The Unnamed Memorial Square of the Red Army of Songmaoling is located in the southeast of Changting County. This is the alpine mountain at the junction with Liancheng County. It stretches more than 80 Huali from north to south, more than 30 Huali from east to west. The peaks are steep and the forests are dense. Because there are many pine trees growing here, it is called "Pine Maoling". The Battle of Songmaoling was the fifth anti-encirclement Red Army battle in Shanghai before the Long March, and it was also an unusually tragic war. In this war, more than 10,000 unnamed Red Army soldiers died in the Songmaoling, and won valuable time for the strategic transfer of the Central Red Army. In order to commemorate these unsung heroes, monuments and squares were built here after liberation.
