A short distance off of the Badlands Loop Road, the Conata Picnic Area is a scenic area to enjoy lunch, that includes rest rooms. If you're packing your lunch, this is a great stop.
This is a nice area for a relaxing lunch and exploring the Conata Basin. Scientists discovered the fossils of wild pigs that is now known as the Pig Dig area.
Small, sunny, and unique views
This was a nice little spot. Have an early lunch to find a table. Take your extra sun umbrella for enough shade.
Brief stop
We didn't have a picnic lunch with us unfortunately, but worth the effort to pack one and take it. Very quiet location and a good feel for the area.

Unique Stopover
Be aware that the road south from here is gravel washboard, potholed, and muddy if it rains as it did on my visit.
