Geleshan Martyrs Cemetery

The Geleshan Martyrs Cemetery is located in the foothills of Geleshan, Shapingba District, Chongqing. In November 1949, the Kuomintang regime, on the eve of its withdrawal from the mainland, committed collective killings of more than 300 revolutionary volunteers imprisoned in Bai Mansion and Zhaludong. After liberation, in order to commemorate these martyrs who died for the revolution, the martyrs' cemetery was built in Gele Mountain, so that future generations will remember.

The Hongyan Exhibition Hall is next to Hongyan Square. It is not open. Geleshan is open. There are buses to the vicinity. It is a few hundred meters walk away. Geleshan tickets are free, no reservation is required, Bai Mansion needs to make an appointment, Zhaxidong is not open because of repairs. Gele Mountain is an anticline low mountain of "East Sichuan", karst development, structure has the characteristics of "one mountain, three mountains and two troughs". In addition to underground dark rivers, reservoirs, water storage karst depressions, there are Qingshuixi, Phoenixxi, Zhanjiaxi, Flea River and other streams originating from this. The soil is mainly yellow and red soil. The vegetation is the low-mountain evergreen broad-leaved forest and evergreen coniferous forest. The coal reservoir is rich and there is natural gas underground.[1] Ancient legends Geleshan was named because of the water treatment of Dagu, and the joy of calling people to sing.

Chongqing Geleshan Martyrs Cemetery is located in Shapingba District, Chongqing. It is located in the former site of the Kuomintang "Military and General" Special Agent Chongqing Concentration Camp (1939 ～ 1949) and the "China-US Special Technical Cooperation Institute" (1943 ～ 1946), and the site of the "One One·27" political massacre in 1949. In 1954, the Martyrs' Cemetery and the Martyrs' Memorial Tower were built. In 1956, it was designated as a provincial cultural relics protection unit. In 1963, the display hall was built and opened to the public. It was named the Meijiang Crime Exhibition Hall of the Chongqing Concentration Camp of the Sino-US Cooperation Institute. In 1984, it was renamed.
