The Chongqing Huguang Guild Hall | Over 300 years of history, Yuwang Palace, Guangdong Guild Hall, Qi'an Guild Hall
Chongqing Huguang Guild Hall, also known as Yuwang Temple, is located at No. 1 Bajiaoyuan, Changbin Road, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. It includes the Guangdong Guild Hall, Jiangnan Guild Hall, Lianghu Guild Hall, Jiangxi Guild Hall, and four opera towers, as well as the Guangdong Guild Office and Qi'an Guild Office. It represents the architectural art of southern China during the Ming and Qing dynasties and is one of the largest existing ancient guild hall complexes in China.
The Huguang Guild Hall faces south with its main gate facing the Yangtze River, where thousands of sails compete. The entire building is built against the mountain, with a tightly structured and majestic layout, divided into three parts: the main gate (temple gate), the main hall corridor, and the opera courtyard.
The guild hall culture of Sichuan (including Chongqing) was formed by the 'Huguang Filling Sichuan' movement. After the Song Dynasty, Sichuan suffered from frequent wars, leading to a drastic reduction in population. In the early Qing Dynasty, the Qing government launched a large-scale immigration movement known as 'Huguang Filling Sichuan'.
The 'Huguang' here still refers to Hunan and Hubei. In fact, the provinces that participated in filling Sichuan also included Shaanxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Guangxi, and a total of sixteen provinces.
Hunan and Hubei were prone to water disasters, so they worshipped Yu the Great, praying for favorable weather, peaceful rivers, and safe voyages. In front of the bronze statue of Yu the Great stands a plaque inscribed with 'Lord of All Under Heaven'. Therefore, the Huguang Guild Hall is also known as Yuwang Palace and Yuwang Temple.
Yu, as the first king of the Xia Dynasty, was later known as Xia Yu and was a sage emperor comparable to Fuxi and the Yellow Emperor in ancient times. Yu's most outstanding achievement, which has been extolled throughout history, was the regulation of the great floods, the demarcation of the Nine Provinces, and the establishment of the Xia Dynasty, for which he was revered as Yu the Great.
The opera stage of the Guangdong Guild Office is the largest of the three stages in the Huguang Guild Hall. The exquisite carvings are concentrated in the stage architecture, with carvings of ghosts and deities from 'The Investiture of the Gods' being the main theme, which is rarely seen elsewhere. Additionally, there are scenes of local officials in Chongqing conducting trials, which are very narrative.

Chongqing tourism is worth a look, and you can understand Bayan culture in depth. It is recommended to ask for an explanation to understand the feat of the lake and fill Sichuan in more deeply. It is recommended to visit in the afternoon and see local special performances.
Huguang Hall, located in Chaotianmen, Yuzhong District, Chongqing, is a long-standing building, carrying the gathering and exchange of Hunan and Guangdong fellow villagers. During this 11th Golden Week, my family stepped into the Huguang Hall with great interest, looking forward to enjoying its long history and unique cultural charm. The Huguang Hall covers a vast area and was built in the early days of the late Ming Dynasty, integrating the architectural styles of South China, Anhui, Hunan and Jiangnan, while retaining the traditional architectural characteristics of Chongqing. The whole hall is large and magnificent, as if it is an ancient cultural hall, which is awe-inspiring. Walking in the ancient streets and alleys of the Huguang Hall, the antiques are reflected in the tiles on the eaves and the various next patterns carved on the beams of the house, which show the historical precipitation of the Huguang Hall.
There is an elevator from the East Watergate Bridge to go down to the clubhouse, and the bridge can overlook the panoramic view, which is very beautiful. The whole trip was almost an hour away. When I went there, there was a place to block it and shoot a traditional wedding promotional film, so I was not allowed to enter. There is an immigration museum next to the exit, and I almost missed it without paying attention.
Yes, it is worth visiting. Tickets are not expensive. The area inside is not big, but the building is good, and there are seats to rest. It’s good to stroll slowly. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
After I went, I knew whether it was good or not. Just like the shoes I tried through to know whether it was suitable or not? The local master in Chongqing said that he had not been there. He also said that it was not open before, but now I don't know how to open it. Although I haven't seen all of them, at least two have not seen some places are Ji what a hall! Some places are immigration halls (because it is Huguangtiao Sichuan). But at least two points I think it is very worthwhile, one is that the wooden components of the carving is very exquisite, mainly the window squatting corner or the carved beam painting building, absolutely can be called a must, the other is an excellent shooting place, can be the Huguang Hall's darts corner and the front of the millennia The high vertical cable of the Gate Bridge is blended in the photo. It is a clever combination of ancient and modern traditions and technology. There is also Zhangzhou Academy, and the old people draw the old wives. There are fan paintings and straight-roll paintings (Tibetans are called Tangka, it can be said that it is now used. so good! Such a quiet old age forward, the beauty of the heart, and the old wife, in such a good environment, can see so many young tourists posing there, will not cause the old wife's memories of the past year? The painter seems to be very focused on the brush and the line of the fan and its picture!) I came here to finally know that this is the Millennium Bridge and from the driver's master knows that the Millennium Gate is one of the nine gates of Chongqing, Chaotianmen is also one. Next time you come, you can continue to visit and take pictures inside. Anyway, it is only 25 yuan for tickets, and maybe you can free tickets in the future! Because it is finally moving in the direction of the "elderly" in the subway station.
During the Spring Festival, there are many tourists in the Huguang Hall. According to the guide map at the door, I chose route c, the Migration Museum and the Sculpture Museum. After visiting, I learned about the origin of the Huguang Assembly Hall, and also learned about the characteristics of each building. It is very interesting to see. During the Spring Festival, there are also folk-style pots and rings activities, as long as you pay attention to the public account, you can participate.
It is a more famous place in Chongqing. It is very suitable for visiting on sunny days. The photos are very good. The clubhouse itself is not large. During the Chinese New Year, it is mainly to watch the performance and eat snacks. But the location of the clubhouse is very good, next to the Yangtze River Bridge, you can take pictures and punch in, and you can see the running Yangtze River cableway, and you can also take a panoramic view of the city on the bridge!
