Reviews: [GONGYAN ORIENTAL ART·Imperial Feast] Shanghai GONGYAN ORIENTAL ART|Panoramic Immersive Ancient Imperial Culture Banquet Show [Optional Lunch/Dinner + Performance, Time-Traveling "Han Culture" Experience in Shanghai]

The experience at Shanghai Palace Banquet completely exceeded my expectations. The most stunning part was undoubtedly the performance by the dancers in the courtyard! Set against the backdrop of ancient-style courtyards, pavilions, bridges, and flowing water, the dancers, clad in magnificent robes, moved gracefully. Their flowing sleeves exuded classical charm, and every turn and sway of their waists was precise and fluid. Their expressions perfectly captured the essence of ancient elegance. Accompanied by melodious music, the rustling of their flowing garments and the tinkling of their accessories created an immersive experience, transporting us to a grand Tang Dynasty banquet. The performers' professionalism and sincerity were palpable. The wonderful performance made the entire meal exceptionally meaningful, and I've already recommended it to my friends for our next gathering – it's definitely worth seeing again and again!

A really cool show! My wife and I went, and we also rented costumes. It was a great atmosphere. The girls in the dressing room helped us choose our look, and it was a really fun process. The show itself was fantastic. Not every dish in China is suitable for a foreign tourist, but everything they served at the banquet was VERY delicious. We definitely recommend it. The actors were great and gave their best performances.

Unfortunately I had to attend the palace banquet alone as my friend couldn’t make it, and I initially thought I wouldn’t be able to capture any nice photos of myself in the Han attire. However, Sister Mao (店长)truly made my experience exceptional. She was incredibly attentive and noticed that I was on my own. She kindly offered to help take photos for me. Her photography skills are superb — she took so many beautiful pictures that I will truly cherish. In addition, some of the staff were all very warm, friendly, and welcoming, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable despite being alone. Their hospitality really stood out. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable and heartfelt experience.

This was my first time experiencing a restaurant show in Shanghai. Overall, I was impressed by the meticulous setup and service. The food was decent; I've been to other restaurants show before, and this one had a pretty good standard with beautifully presented dishes.

It was difficult to find; the restaurant isn't in a tourist area. We got a little lost, but we eventually found it. The interior is beautiful and intuitive. They provided suits for men, and suits and makeup/hairstyles for women—it was fantastic! The costumes were beautiful. The food was a bit unusual, but we were prepared for it. My suggestion to the organizers: please provide a short narration, like in a theater, so foreigners understand the context of the show. It would also be helpful to explain from the start what food was on the table and why. My Chinese neighbor helped me with suggestions throughout dinner, but this could be part of your excellent service to make the experience complete.

We booked through Trip easily. We searched for it using maps along the route. We wouldn't have found it otherwise. We were on Nanjing Street. The restaurant is on the third floor of a large store. We had to wait about an hour to get into the dining room. There's a guy at the counter; you go up to him and take a ticket, sit on a chair, and wait your turn. You can track the queue on the board. When you enter the restaurant, if you've already paid for it and have a voucher, show it so they know you've paid and what exactly you've chosen. Otherwise, they won't know. The food and service are 10 out of 10. Plenty of it, delicious, and, of course, very beautiful and unusual. I recommend it.
