Dayuantong Temple, is the main temple of Puji Temple, in the Putuo Mountain Scenic Area Puji Temple. Founded in the Southern Song Dynasty in Jiading seven years (1214), rebuilt in Qing Kangxi 32 years (1693), can be called "short and grand, 100 people enter the total, thousands of Qiden do not feel crowded", so there is "live hall", "the ancestor of the world round hall" reputation. The Great Yuantong Temple is the main temple of Guanyin Bodhisattva. Because Guanyin Bodhisattva returns to the true circle of self-sustaining evidence, it is called "Yuantong Temple". "Yuantong" is synonymous with Guanyin, meaning "unbiased, unhindered", and complete. In Buddhist classics, Guanyin is the ear root (one through) that is, six (eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, meaning). Guanyin Bodhisattva can hear the cry of suffering, and can see, so it is called Guanyin. The hall is 18 meters high, 42 meters wide, and 24 meters deep. It is a single-story heavy wooden structure building, with yellow glazed tiles on the top, moths and corners, and is solemn and elegant. It is a typical architectural style in the early Qing Dynasty.
