We arrived from out of town and are so happy we found this fabulous breakfast place. The staff and servers were very friendly, fast and professional. The food was delicious and extremely fresh.

I can't say enough good things about this spot! Locally sourced foods, Great Wi-Fi, perfect atmosphere. Eat inside or outside. I recommend that yogurt and granola bowl (THM friendly) or Lox Bagel. Good coffee. Grass fed burgers. Soup. Go!! Trust me!! Thatorganicmom dot com

Stumbled upon the Big Bear on a recent visit to DC and loved the whole experience. It was a tossup for me between the falafel wrap and the garden salad, and I went with recommendation of the sweet gal behind the counter and went with the falafel. Great choice. Unlike the typical falafel wrap, this one wasn't just tahini, lettuce and onions, it was a full flavor burst, with pickled cabbage and other delectables. On the way out, I grabbed a latte, which was one of the sweetest lattes I've had without any question. Make sure you stop by Big Bear if you're in the neighborhood or go out of your way to get there like me!

    2/5Bad

I was severely unimpressed by this place, and quite honestly, don't understand why it has such a high rating. I went there with my boyfriend for a coffee, and was underwhelmed in all departments. Walking in, it seemed like a hip place, lots of young people, people working on computers, etc. We got to the register to order, and the guy who helped us seemed a little out of it, thinking we were done with our order and giving us a price twice before we were actually finished. We ordered cappuccinos and pastries, which were fine. The coffee is mild but tasted good, and the pastries were average. I was in need of some ground coffee beans for home, and there was a sign that said 12oz for $7 for what I assumed was their house coffee. We asked a girl behind the counter for some descriptions of their coffee, and she introduced us to two coffee types that weren't actually their own, but sounded good so we took one. It cost $21 for the bag, which was way more than we expected. When we asked about it, apparently the misleading sign was about a pot of coffee, not coffee beans, which we hadn't understood correctly. Needless to say, customer service isn't their strong suit. They acted accusatory when we were surprised to be paying $21 instead of $7, and were generally unfriendly throughout the whole visit. Aside from all that, I'm always willing to give a nice atmosphere a second chance, so I hope it's better next time.
