Danube River Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
vienna danube river side
In Vienna, the Danube is omnipresent – whether in the form of the Donau-Auen National Park or Old Danube, Danube Island or Danube Canal.
The 21 kilometer long Danube island is not only the favorite recreational region of the Viennese
It's the Donaukanal or Danube Canal (though it's best to think of it as a channel, not a canal). Technically, the Donaukanal is an arm of the Danube that forks off just after the latter enters the city in the northwest. The channel rejoins the Danube proper on the southeast side of town.
Surrounded by gardens, lawns, restaurants with terraces on the water, promenades with pedestrian and bicycle paths, the Old Danube draws swimmers, sailors, rowers, and surfers. You can choose between the offers of three sailing and surfing schools, eleven boat hire companies and four lidos. Tip: Rent a rowing, pedal or electric boat and experience a romantic boat picnic in the moonlight (e.g. from the boat rental point in the Hofbauer Marina - open daily until midnight in good weather). Maybe you would also like to spend an afternoon at the Gänsehäufel beach facility where two kilometers of beaches, a wave pool and athletic pool, playgrounds, cafés and a nudist area promise enjoyable hours of leisure.

❤️ The business cards of Austria·Czech Republic·Hungary
✅City of Music Vienna🇦🇹 Timeless masterpieces, world-renowned musicians, Vienna is like a city of music where you can find everything related to music, and you can always hear the elegant waltz.
✅Habsburg Family🇦🇹 The most famous imperial family in Europe, they once controlled half of Europe, and now many European countries still have relics related to this family.
✅Danube River🌏 The second longest river in Europe, flowing through many European countries. The riverbanks are lined with endless scenery, and large cities like Vienna and Budapest are like pearls dropped onto the Danube, stringing it into a beautiful necklace.
✅Cuisine🥙 In the Czech Republic and Hungary, 'eating big pieces of meat and drinking big bowls of wine' is the most common lifestyle. They make various pork chops and hams. Hungarian cuisine, with its nomadic heritage, has a unique flavor. The people of these countries also love beer, and Pilsen in the Czech Republic is one of the most famous beer cities in Europe.
✅Hot Springs♨️ Hungary and the Czech Republic are countries rich in hot springs, but here, the springs are not mainly for bathing, but for direct drinking. The hot springs in the cities of Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázně in the Czech Republic are the most famous, and there are also many beautifully constructed medieval spa colonnades, which are also a major attraction.
✅Architectural Art🏠 Here you can see various styles of architecture, Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Renaissance, Arabian, Turkish... They blend and coexist harmoniously, forming the very distinctive Bohemian architectural style.
✅Natural Scenery🏞️ The scenery of Bohemia mostly arises by the water, with peaceful towns distributed along the riverbanks. The natural scenery with mountains and waters and the harmonious pastoral views give a sense of freedom, and the close contact with nature completely relaxes the body and mind.

Royal Vienna Palace - love sissi & frank
Beautiful summer palace where Sissi lived. Grand tour 42 rooms. It's worth while to buy a Sissi combiticket, then you can skip the line and you don't have a timeslot.
You can enter the Palace Park free of charge during opening hours. If you wish to visit to the Schönbrunn special attractions, such as the Privy Garden, the Orangery Garden or the Maze, you need to purchase individual admission tickets
This tour includes 40 rooms and takes approximately 50 minutes. Besides the 22 rooms seen on the Imperial Tour you'll also see the precious 18th-century interiors from the time of Maria Theresa.
Lastly, you're not allowed to take photos inside. So I would suggest sticking to the outside of Schonbrunn Palace. The grounds are really what makes this place so amazing! And most of the grounds are totally free to walk around and explore.
Valid for single admission to all included attractions on the day chosen. This ticket does not include a guided tour. Audio guides or printed descriptions for
€26.00

lovely city 🌆
i travelled to Vienna with some collegues of mine for only a weekend, and we had an absolute blast! It was a bit windy, but the temperature was perfect to go outside with a light jacket. We visited lots of museums and places and couldn’t have it enough 🤍
I suggest to buy a Vienna City Card: you can travel with all the public transports plus it gives you some discounts on ticket museums!
Even if it is a little far from the center, I suggest you to visit the Schönbrunn Palace because it is immaculate: you will spend an entire day in it and the gardens are so beautiful with different activities and mazes 😻

Experiencing fall in Vienna, Austria
#fallingforfall #bucketlistreboot #tripblazers
Check out some stunning photos of the Schönbrunn Palace from my recent visit to Vienna, Austria. It was once the home of the Holy Roman Emperor and the imperial family, the Habsburgs. Think of Maria Theresa, Holy Roman Empress and mother of Marie Antoinette. Yes, the last Queen of France! It was spectacular to walk in the gardens of the palace and know that you might have just stood or sat in the very same spot as the last Queen of France nearly 250 years ago.
Schönbrunn is easily accessible from Vienna. If you take the underground metro, use the U4 (green color line) service and alight at Schönbrunn. Buses go there too! I took 10A to Schloss Schönbrunn. The authentic Viennese experience would be to go there by tram. A couple of buses do go to Schloss Schönbrunn too.
There are many things to do at the palace. I recommend going for a stroll in the beautiful gardens, especially during the start of fall (now!). There are many lovely statues and fountains to awe at too. For the little ones, head over to the Children's Museum.
For a full afternoon at the palace, I suggest getting the Classic Pass for €31. You get a tour (audio guide), a visit to the gardens, maze, as well as a viewing terrace with gorgeous panoramic views of Vienna.
What a charming trip back in time! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

roof top St. Stephen's Cathedral
St. Stephen's Cathedral is the symbol of Vienna and also the very center of the city. At 136 meters in height, it is the tallest church in Austria.
Stephen's Cathedral is its ornately patterned, richly coloured roof, 111 metres (364 ft) long, and covered by 230,000 glazed tiles. Above the choir on the south side of the building the tiles form a mosaic of the double-headed eagle that is symbolic of the empire ruled from Vienna by the Habsburg dynasty.
Visitors can explore the Romanesque and Gothic cathedral interior, take a guided tour of the catacombs, or climb to the top of either the North or South Tower for a fantastic view of the city center
The entrance fee for St stephens cathedral at Vienna is €5,50 (Rs 440) for adults and for children is €2 (Rs 160). The guided tours in multiple languages is also available at extra cost for visitors.

St Stephen's Cathedral
My wife, colleague, ex colleague and I went to Vienna Austria during a trip last year. One of the places we went was St Stephen's Cathedral. It is of the places that I will recommend to people when they wanna visit Vienna Austria. St Stephen's Cathedral has a very rich history. It's interior and exterior are spectacular. You can also go up one of its Tower to enjoy the panorama view of the city from up there.
