The Three Pagodas of Dali
The three pagodas are located within the big complex of Chongsheng Temple, in Dali China. The three pagodas are separated from the rest of the temple buildings by a building that forms a bridge over a road that passes through the complex.
The pagodas form a triangle, where the main square pagoda was built first about 1800 years ago, and the other two smaller circular pagodas were built 100 years later, with a different style. The pagodas are quite incredible architecturally. The other temple buildings are regular, classical but modern Buddhist temples. The Congshan mountain forms a great background. A vegetarian buffet is served for lunch, for about 20RMB.

The Three Pagodas of Dali
These pagodas are an icon of Dali, in-between Dali Old Town and Xizhou Old Town. They are worth a visit!
The pagodas are ancient and with the backdrop of Dali's mountains you can see how they became an icon. If it's not hot travel a little while up the hill behind the pagodas to get a panoramic view of them. behind the pagodas there's a huge temple complex you can visit, if you have the strength (we didn't 🤭)

Dali - Erhai lake and the mountains
Dali city is a county level city that actually encompasses all the settlements surrounding the Erhai Lake. The modern central part is located in the south and is your most probable entry point since the bus and train stations are located there. That part is also probably the one you will be least interested in. Although it's coastal area does have nice views and some fancy hotels most travelers head out to one of the smaller places around the lake, most notably the Dali Old Town. Dali Old town is technically a tourist center and most travelers choose to stay in or around it. The famed three pagodas as well as the starting point for climbing CangShan are all located near the Old Town. The town itself is nice enough and rather big. The fact that it is not pedestrianized and that pavements are very often blocked with stalls and parked cars does make it a bit hectic, especially in the high season, so staying on the fringes of it is probably a better option. To be honest, most of the things we wanted to see and do In Dali had nothing to do with the Old Town itself. It is a good place to eat and drink though, although 'tourist surcharge' will most certainly apply.
If you have not arrived by car, renting an e-bike for exploring short distances is actually a good idea. The three of us got on one e-bike and squeezed it out of all of its juice while exploring around. So much so, that we actually had to recharge on the way because the declared 70km range probably did not refer to a 160kg+ weight-load. Great way to discover surrounding villages that offer a bit more authenticity and bit less crowds that the Dali Old town. Most of the town pictures you see above(5-6-7) are actually from XiZhou (喜洲古镇) a smaller village further north really worth a visit. Quite a lot of people also like renting one of the pink convertibles and I suppose it is a good way to reach farther as well as take that ever so important Instagram photos.
I would come here again. The place does offer some real peace and quiet as well a serene landscape, even though it is often hidden by noise of the crowds and commerce.

The Three Pagodas temple (三塔诗) is the cultural symbol of Dali. Located at the foot of Cangshan Mountain and near the famous Erhai Lake, the Three Pagodas stands about 1 kilometre west of Dali City. They are three pagodas in tripartite formation and the main pagoda is named Qianxun Pagoda; it is 70 metres high and flanked by 2 smaller pagodas on each side at 42 metres high. Qianxun Pagoda is in the typical architectural style of the Tang Dynasty’s (618 – 907). It is a 16-storied pagoda enclosed with stone hurdles while the two smaller same style pagodas are 10-storied.During the repairing of the Three Pagodas in the 1970s, more than 600 relics were found, including scriptures, bronze mirrors, golden Buddhas and crystal Buddhas.Tourists can visit the Three Pagodas from 8:00 to 19:00 and the admission fee is RMB 121. It takes 30 minutes to reach there by feet if you start from the Dali Old Town. Also there are public buses leaving from Xiaguan directly to Three Pagodas temple.

Three Pagodas of Dali are famous in China for their size, beauty, and antiquity, and for their preservation. The central one is more than 1,100 years old and is one of the tallest pagodas built.
As I can’t take the picture nearby so the afar view is the best to capture 3 pagodas. In the area they have temples and one can engage a local guide or buggy to go around. if you feel like strolling and walking, you can do the same.

3 Pagodas 🏯🏯🏯
We honestly thought we had seen enough temples to last us a lifetime, and nearly skipped the 3 Pagodas. Lucky for us, we listened to the recommendations!
Firstly, the park isn't just the 3 pagodas, they are just the beginning!
Prepare yourself for a lot of stair climbing; don't worry it's worth it! The temples and the surrounding gardens really are beautiful.
After you're done, you can treat yourself to a simple, yet wholesome, vegetarian buffet for CNY20.

The wonders of Yunnan- Three Pagodas
The Three Pagodas are three tall, tower- like structures located in the Chongsheng Temple. The tallest of the three is 69m and it is said that the temple is more than 1800 years old. This place is rich in history and nature. The gardens surrounding the temple are beautiful, and the pagodas themselves are spectacular.
Chongsheng Temple and the Three Pagodas are located just outside the scenic city Dali, in Yunnan province. It can be reached via taxi, and the entrance fee is around 75¥. Prices may vary during National Holidays.
There are plenty of food stands, fruit vendors and souvenir shops outside the temple, so you won't go hungry, or go home with empty pockets.

Three Pagodas of Dali
Driving down the road, the sight of the three majestic pagodas came into view, shadowed in the morning light. Early morning is the best time to visit, ensuring no queues or crowds of tourists. After entry, there is opportunity to take the photos and videos of the pagodas up close. These are UNESCO protected, meaning they are well-looked after and preserved. The gardens around the pagodas are lined with colorful flowers and trees, home to singing birds. Behind the pagodas are the steps leading up the mountain towards the various temples. The temples are well-decorated and impressive to see up close, although there is lots of walking involved. The upside is that's it's good exercise, the air is very good quality and also the views back down towards Erhai lake are amazing. So, it's definitely a must-visit attraction and I recommend it to anyone in Dali.

Three pagodas in Dali, Yunnan, China
This is one of the most beautiful places in Yunnan.
The three pagodas site is located 1 km away from Dali ancient town. It is part of the ChongSheng temple which you can see with same entrance ticket. You can reach the location by bus from the city.
The site includes the famous lake were the pagodas are reflected. It makes the sight even more beautiful!
It is not possible to climb up the pagodas but the surrounding has a magical atmosphere and it takes around 2 hours to visit it all.
I loved the temple surrounded by the forest but be aware that if you visit it all there are many steps to climb, so wear comfortable shoes!

Three ancient pagodas standing proud against the stunning backdrop that is Mt. Cangshan. Built over 1800 years ago, the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are located around 1-2km away from Dali Ancient City, and are - without a doubt - a graceful sight to behold.
Fun fact: Buddhist Sanskrit or Chinese can be found dotted on the distinctive bricks of the pagodas, and more than 600 cultural relics were found within the tallest Qianxun pagoda, and further solidifies a significant understand of Dali's history, religion and art.
This is without a doubt a must visit when in Dali, and won’t take up too much of your time either! I think to wander around the entire complex, it took me around 2 #momentsmission ours.

Dali - Three Pagodas
The Three Pagodas are very close to Dali Ancient Town (about 1km) and they are in a complex of more than 5 km made of temples that scale up the mountain.
The amazing thing is that these pagodas belong to Tang Dynasty era and they’re still authentic.
Moreover the temples are really beautiful with huge statues inside and they’re still used for ceremonies. You need to get to the last one to really appreciate the magnificence of Buddhist statues and scriptures.

Dali is such a wonderful town with so much to do - but you definitely cannot miss a trip to the Three Pagodas.
It is possible to walk to the 3 Pagodas from Dali town, and takes around 20-30 minutes, dependent on where your hotel is. The park is impressive from the start. It also has ponds and other temples to walk around. If you would prefer to save energy, there are buses that go around the park.

Three Pagodas
It has always been a retrospective look, when it comes to history. And so standing in front of this AAAAA rated UNESCO cultural heritage site, made me connect different things from Chinese history🍜🎎. First of all, the number of layers are 16 for the middle one and 10 for the side ones. But most of the Pagodas in China has an odd number of layers, except in here. That's because the Bai minority people built this under the 苍山 (Cangshan) mountain, and making a huge civilization once upon a time, with Erhai lake🏞️ on the other side. The perfect spot of the Pagoda is also that it's in the center of the Cangshan mountain at the highest point. The total view looks like a king seated on his throne 🤴 #dalitravel #couplestrip

When in Dali, one of the must-visit attractions is The Chongaheng Temple and a the Three Pagoda Culture Tourist Area. It’s actually a much larger complex than I expected, and makes for a great afternoon activity. The Three Pagodas (which are an iconic view) are easily seen at the very start of the complex, but be sure to keep walking through as you will also get to gaze upon old relics and really colourful temple buildings too!
Entry Price: 75 RMB (includes a one way shuttle bus ride)

The Mysterious Journey to the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple
🌟The Charm of the Three Pagodas🌟
Dali, this beautiful city, has an iconic structure—the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple. Among them, the most breathtaking is the "reflection of the Three Pagodas," which seems like a perfect fusion of nature and human craftsmanship, displaying a unique beauty.
📸The Beauty of Reflection📸
Want to capture the reflection of these three pagodas? Don't miss these excellent spots:
1️⃣ Right at the entrance, you will find two clear ponds that reflect the magnificent image of the three pagodas like mirrors.
2️⃣ On the northeast side of the square, there is also a colorful pond, which is an excellent spot for shooting the beautiful scenery of the three pagodas. Don't miss it!
3️⃣ The Shadow Pool and the Three Pagodas Reflection Park are sacred places for capturing the reflection of the three pagodas. Especially the park, 99.99% of tourists will miss it, but the beauty there is definitely worth exploring.
🍂The Feast of Ginkgo and Maple Leaves🍁
In autumn, when the ginkgo leaves turn yellow and the maple leaves turn red, the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple welcome their most beautiful season. The ancient ginkgo trees and the South Small Pagoda complement each other, and the ginkgo forest near the Qianxun Pagoda is an excellent place for shooting portraits and the landscape of the three pagodas. The maple leaves quietly bloom their beauty at places like the Guanyin Hall and the Sutra Copying Area.
🚶♀️Travel Tips🚶♂️
The Chongsheng Temple Three Pagodas scenic area is vast, with many temples. Walking around is about 8 kilometers, which can be somewhat strenuous, but the scenery along the way is definitely worth it. You can also choose to take an electric sightseeing car for an easy tour. Want to experience in-depth and take beautiful photos? It is recommended to start from the small path on the south side, following the beautiful scenery of ginkgo and maple leaves, and play towards the Cangshan direction until the Mahavira Hall. On the way back, you can choose the small path on the north side to capture different scenery along the way.
💡Remember: Don't just stick to the main road, or you'll miss a lot of hidden beauty in the corners!💡

A half stick of incense at the ancient temple, all I hope for is that all wishes come true
After a thousand years of vicissitudes and weathering, earthquakes, and wars, the Three Pagodas of Dali stand tall, becoming the perfect scenery that 'eternally guards the mountains and rivers.'
The Chongsheng Temple behind it is a very large monastery, which was destroyed at the end of the Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in 2005. Chongsheng Temple is probably the largest monastery I have ever visited.
I bought a sightseeing car ticket, which comes with a free tour guide (you can also choose not to have a guide and just take the car directly). The guide is said to be from a Buddhist college. I don't know much about it, so I won't comment on the guide, but in the end, they talk about hanging copper bells, saying something about Buddhist blessings, and eventually, the copper bells will be melted down to make something. I didn't listen carefully; as soon as they started selling things, I left. Everyone can make their own choice.

The Guardian Deity of the Cang'er Land - The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple in Dali
The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple were the royal temples during the Dali Kingdom period, and are among the first batch of key national cultural relics under protection. They also served as the prototype for the White Dragon Temple in the TV series 'Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils'.
As the saying goes, 'A temple may not always have a pagoda, but a pagoda always has a temple.' The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are located between the Cangshan Mountains and Erhai Lake, consisting of the Three Pagodas Scenic Area and the Chongsheng Temple Scenic Area. To the west, they are backed by the Ying Le Peak of the nineteen peaks of Cangshan, and to the east, they face the 'pearl of the plateau', Erhai Lake. The snow-capped mountain tops set against the clear and blue Erhai Lake create a beautiful and tranquil scene, healing all kinds of restlessness.
The Dali Kingdom was once known as the 'Kingdom of Lakes', with frequent water disasters. Therefore, the pagodas were built to control the water disasters, and since then, the weather has been favorable. Even more miraculous is the legend that the Three Pagodas can self-repair after being cracked in a major earthquake. The main pagoda, also known as the Qianxun Pagoda, was built during the Tang Dynasty. The words 'Eternal Guardian of Mountains and Rivers' are inscribed in front of the main pagoda, embodying the local people's yearning for a good life. The two smaller pagodas to the north and south were added during the Song Dynasty. Chongsheng Temple was built after the Three Pagodas. Walking upwards towards the Cangshan Mountains, every step is a view. The magnificent natural landscape and the solemn and sacred Buddhist architecture make it not only a journey but also a purification of the soul. The higher you go, the better the view becomes. From the Wanghai Tower, you can even gaze at the distant Erhai Lake.
🚉Transportation tips: The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are located about 1.5 kilometers north of Dali Ancient Town. If you are departing from the ancient town, you can take a taxi directly or take the No. 19 bus from the north gate of the ancient town to the Three Pagodas Park Station.
💰Ticket price: 75 yuan on-site. It's worth comparing the prices on online platforms. If you don't want to get too tired, you can buy a one-way electric car ticket.
🍽Dining recommendation: There is vegetarian food in the scenic area, 20 yuan per person.
📝Note tips: The ticket for the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple includes the Three Pagodas Reflection Park outside the scenic area. The Three Pagodas Reflection Park is a good spot for photographing the reflection of the pagodas. If you are short on time, it is not recommended to go there, as the Juying Pool in the scenic area can also capture the reflection of the Three Pagodas.
⏳Recommended duration of visit: Half a day

I went to Dali a while ago
Coincidentally, it was gloomy for the first two days when I just arrived
Came here looking at many beautiful pictures online but felt very disappointed
The children could only play Lego and watch cartoons in the homestay
There is no air conditioning and heating in Dali in winter
It all depends on a heater. Even more sad
-
So, I suddenly thought about going to visit Dali in the continuous rain
Experience a different scenery
So I booked tickets for the Chongsheng Temple Three Pagodas
The quiet temple did not break the incense because of the rain
Tourists worship devoutly one by one
I was wearing a scarf, wearing a woolen coat, and holding a transparent umbrella
Walking up the steps of the stairs at a leisurely pace
I actually felt like I was filming a mysterious and charming female protagonist's movie
The camera slowly slides from the feet to the roof of the temple
The movie ends (the heroine's dream wakes up, hehe)
-
The advantage of renting a car and driving by yourself is that it is as free as the wind
Driving past a large field, passing a small manor
Pushing the wooden door will ring the bell, telling the owner that someone is coming
Everything seems unintentional and so unreal
The boss said it was cold, so he lit the fire pit. Come in and warm up
The northerners thought they could describe a piece of charcoal so beautifully
I was intoxicated (exaggerated but not too exaggerated)
The small house bends over and crosses the small door
Inside is the decoration, lighting, and atmosphere only on TV
And a golden retriever, holding up the cute facade
-
🥨About the hunter's cabin (I named it myself)

After sitting for a while, I went to the nearby ancient city to eat mushroom soup pot
The waitress spoke in a heavy accent and told us how to eat
Every sip of soup is so fresh that it shakes its head, it's so delicious
It's a taste that can't be brought back and bought at home
Unexpectedly, the hot pot star came to Yunnan and returned to his hometown!
-
After eating hot pot, I just walked around the ancient city to digest
This damn sudden romance makes me happy and return
-
So what is the meaning of travel?
At present, recording with the eyes has far surpassed the lens
Some feelings are a kind of relief obtained in a different way.
