#Lu Xun Ancestral Residence Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Spring arrives and the river turns a blue as lush as the sky, how can one not reminisce about Lu Xun's ancestral home
Deeply embedded in my mind is the saying 'Above there is heaven, below there are Suzhou and Hangzhou'; Suzhou may be fine, but it's Shaoxing that I truly adore. This place makes me linger and yearn to return time and again with an urge to revisit.
The detailed travel plan for 2024 is finally arranged:
1. Transportation
① High-speed train: You can take a direct train to Shaoxing North Station, or a train to Shaoxing Station
② Airplane: You can choose to fly to Hangzhou, then take the subway for about 2 hours
③ Self-driving: It takes about 1 hour to drive from Hangzhou to Shaoxing~
Xi Xiaolu Historical District (free admission, about 1 hour to visit) The film 'The Summer of Xi Xiaolu' was shot here. This place is very pristine, with few tourists and the simplest way of life of the residents, making it well worth a visit.
Yangming's Hometown (free admission, reservation required, about 1 hour to visit) Yangming's life can give us a lot of inspiration. Here you can experience the great wisdom of Yangming's life and his philosophy of 'the mind is the principle, integrating knowledge and action, and achieving innate knowledge'.
Sage of Calligraphy's Hometown (free admission, reservation required, about 2 hours to visit) The hometown of Wang Xizhi and Cai Yuanpei, with a strong cultural atmosphere. Calligraphy can be seen everywhere on the walls, making it a must-visit attraction.
Shaoxing snacks: stinky tofu, yellow wine milk tea, yellow wine popsicle, shredded radish cake, cream Xiaopan, Mian Bobo...

It's really like a Shaoxing in the south of the Yangtze River
The water scenery in the south of the Yangtze River is very beautiful, and the temperature in February is maintained at more than 20 degrees, which is relatively mild. Buses and subways are very convenient, and electric bicycles and bicycles for rent on the road can also save you a sum of money.
Before I arrived in this city, I always thought that there were not many tourists in the local area, but there are still many people in those famous ancient streets. Compared with the hot city, there are not so many people.
The first six are scenic photos of Shaoxing Lanting. Although this place is slightly far from the city center, it is definitely a place worth taking photos for memory.
The hometown of the sage of books, Cangqiao Straight Street is the most antique street I think. You can see many ancient beauties checking in there. When you walk leisurely here alone, you will feel the breath of life coming on your face and enjoy the slow pace of life in Shaoxing.
Walking on the street, you will see small shops selling all kinds of yellow wine popsicles, yellow wine milk tea, and cream Xiao Pan. If you are here for tourism, you can try their specialties.
I stayed there for two days and almost finished all the important scenic spots. The homestay I chose is about 2-300, located in the city center and the transportation is very convenient. Almost all the scenic spots are free (but remember to make an appointment in advance!). After I tasted the restaurants in Shaoxing, I probably knew that the local taste is salty, but since I came here, I still have to try the signature dishes here.
The former residence of Lu Xun (Baicaoyuan Sanwei Bookstore) in the former residence of Lu Xun is worth visiting, but I think the commercialization of the streets there is slightly heavier. If you want to travel in poverty, I think this is a good place, of course, you can also visit all the surrounding Jiangnan water town cities.
