Trip Moments Recommendations
#Geyuan Garden Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Ge Garden: The mountain light of four seasons is condensed in the stone, and the shadow of bamboo is swaying with the cool autumn
Ge Garden, named after bamboo and famous for its stones, is the oldest and best preserved salt merchant garden in Yangzhou. If 'March fireworks in Yangzhou' is the endorsement written by Li Bai for Yangzhou, then 'the best place in the west of bamboo' is the promotion given by Jiang Kui to Ge Garden. The lush green bamboo separated by a wall separates the hustle and bustle of Dongguan Street and soothes the anxiety and impatience brought by my hurried journey.
'Prefer to eat without meat, rather than live without bamboo', the owner of Ge Garden, Huang Yingtai, cherishes and loves bamboo, even changed his name to 'Zhiyun', and planted his residence full of lush bamboo. Naming the garden 'Ge' is not only a clever take on the charm of the Chinese character and shape of bamboo; the three strokes in the painting also represent the perfect realm of the three fullness of fortune, salary, and longevity. This is also the most famous classical garden in Yangzhou besides Slender West Lake - if you don't come to Ge Garden, you haven't been to Yangzhou.
Four Seasons Rockery: A mountain has many seasons, and a season is in many mountains
Chinese freehand brushwork is committed to integrating thousands of weather in a square inch. A long scroll of the four seasons is also condensed into an eternal real scene by Ge Garden. 'Spring mountain is light and like a smile, summer mountain is green and like a drop, autumn mountain is clear and like makeup, winter mountain is bleak and like sleep', and the winter and spring mountains are separated by a wall. Through the hole in the west wall of the winter mountain, you can glimpse the stalagmites at the entrance of the garden outside - winter is here, will spring be far away?
Admiring the autumn mountain in autumn is just right: the craftsman cleverly borrows the texture and unique color of the newly built yellow stone, and constructs a rugged and changeable three-dimensional landscape in the square inch of the world. Standing on the Buddha Yun Pavilion on the top of the mountain, you can overlook the autumn mountain below, and you can look far away to the Slender West Lake to the north. The mountain is also planted with ancient cypresses, red maples and other colorful and angular plants, which are commensurate with the handsome mountain body, making this live 'Autumn Mountain Sunset' picture always new.
Baoshan Building: Don't go out and the sky is spring, and the dust horses are all resting
The slender Baoshan Building embraces the summer and autumn mountains with a long corridor, hence the name. The garden has the saying of 'mustard sumeru' and 'pot middle world', and the title of Baoshan Building 'Pot Sky from Spring' also means to see the big from the small. It is like a time and space tunnel, collecting spring, summer, autumn and winter, heaven and earth, day and moon: climbing the building and looking, you can overlook the clear pool and mountain stone flowers and trees under the building, as far as the entrance of the spring mountain; to the north, you can look far away. Yangzhou city scenery, hear the voices of people in the market; walking along the long corridor in the building, there are exquisite and transparent summer and majestic and heavy autumn within a hundred steps.
Wan Bamboo Garden: The green shadow shakes the sky and the blue clouds are low, and the bamboo dances with the wind and the rhyme is long
Bamboo is the spirit of Ge Garden. In Wan Bamboo Garden, there are now more than 60 kinds of ornamental bamboo and more than 20,000 poles. There is a pavilion in the depths of the bamboo forest, named after Wang Wei's poem 'Bamboo Pavilion'. The couplet in the pavilion 'For the heavy frost festival, can be empty to respond to the heart of things' also reflects Huang Zhiyun's love for the bamboo's spirit. Standing in the hexagonal pavilion surrounded by bamboo trees on all sides, waiting for the breeze to pass through the bamboo tips, the bamboo shadows swaying, listening to the clear and unique sound of the bamboo leaves, I can't help but think: when the 'Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest' in the Wei and Jin Dynasties lived under the bamboo and sang happily, Is it so comfortable and hearty?
'Spring, summer, autumn and winter mountain light is different, the wind is clear and the dew bamboo shadow is colorful', come to Ge Garden in autumn, you can enjoy the fragrant osmanthus, golden ginkgo, and fiery maple's strong autumn rhyme at the same time.

Yangzhou University
weekend suddenly thought of going to Yangzhou for a circle, thinking about the book, finished the high-speed rail ticket, and went down The high-speed train took a taxi to Yangzhou University. There was no one on the weekend campus. The spring flowers are very suitable for taking pictures. There are many colleges in the park. One of the colleges is super retro. It feels like the Republic of China. After entering, I also saw the lab, which is super retro. The kind of bathroom, the old-fashioned look, the mirror is a simple and simple glass to open a piece, attached to the wall, very atmosphere.
Liu Xie Kee noodle restaurant (now is the net red noodle restaurant)
Walk over Yangzhou University to go to lunch, the small supermarket on the road encounters the net red yogurt, eats chocolate sorbet, through the heart When I went to the fat-intestine noodle shop recommended by my friend, the fat intestines seemed to be cleaned very cleanly. In fact, I still like to eat the fat meat inside. I bite the skin and the fat oil in the mouth to give each other their own charm, which is wonderful. Their crab yellow meatballs are also one of the characteristics. A gentle crab yellow juice can not help but flow out, the ball is elastic and chewy, the noodle shop is not big, and it is full of people.
Park
I don't like the bustling downtown, I am going to go to the park in the afternoon for a circle, a garden-world cultural heritage, there are green bamboos, come back to view the information, the original The owner of the garden especially likes bamboo, and the name of the garden is also bamboo.
The garden is filled with large pieces of emerald green bamboo. Walking inside is a happy and happy couple. A couple of photographers taking pictures of the Republic of China, photographers all kinds of plans, it seems that the knowledgeable old man took the SLR and carefully studied it carefully. The grandmother of the child, the couple walks.
Dessert Shop
The garden is coming out for a walk, passing through a regular underground corridor, and the outside world, outside the sun, the bottom of the heart is cool.
I met a private dessert shop for a while, a couple opened together, the decoration style is simple, there is no complicated color, the overall white, the wall is full of paintings, sofa cotton, bookcase wood, balcony It is covered with green climbing plants, spider plants, etc., and has a dining table with a layer of misty white gauze, which is separated from the outside guests by a low-key, two floors upstairs and downstairs.
Eat dessert, read the book, sort out the photos, prepare for the resurrection to eat hot pot
Eight-flag old Beijing hot pot
downtown walked a circle, feeling Yangzhou whole The city is very clean, the city is small but very comfortable, there is a street, and many people who ride to work feel very retro.
Selected an old Beijing copper pot hot pot, eating sesame sauce, copper pot hot pot and Sichuan flavor hot pot is different, its soul is meat and sesame sauce, once the meat is not good, it is found in minutes, because it is clear soup, There are no hidden components.
Iron skewer kebabs are delicious, sprinkled with cumin chili powder is perfect
waiter's incomparable enthusiasm, feeling the kind of illusion in Beijing.
West Lake
hot pot after the end and went to the thin West Lake strolled a circle, the day is a bit dark, the camera did not take any photos, a very relaxing day, the high-speed rail back to Nanjing, the era The progress can make it a wonderful day for you to travel to and from a city.
One must visit Yangzhou in the spring and summer
Going to Yangzhou on the weekend, although physically exhausted 😫, my heart is filled with the joy of spring... I visited gardens and Slender West Lake, dined at Shi Wei Tian and Lu's old house. The tinkling sound of the 🎐 wind chimes in the garden left a deep impression; the uncles and aunties at the 🎣 fishing platform in Slender West Lake seemed young at heart; the high threshold and the limit of 13 tables at the old house 🚫 make even waiting in line a willing experience.

marcella_lilith_thornfield Visit the Yangzhou China Grand Canal Museum, a popular internet-famous museum
After visiting the Yangzhou Ge Garden in the morning, I went to visit the Grand Canal Museum. Admission requires advance reservation, so I didn't enter the museum until after 12:00 p.m.
The museum has a total of 13 exhibition halls, and it might take several days to see everything in detail.
Therefore, this time I only visited halls 1-3, as well as the Potala Palace cultural relics exhibition that is currently in halls 11-12, which was an eye-opening experience.
The museum has a restaurant on the basement level where you can solve the lunch problem. Due to the large number of visitors, you still need to take a number and queue up for dining, which is also rare in museums.
The Grand Canal—China's World Cultural Heritage, the Grand Canal, is not a birth mother, it is a wet nurse.
The China Grand Canal was first dug during the Spring and Autumn period, became navigable in the Sui Dynasty, and flourished in the Tang and Song Dynasties. During the Yuan Dynasty, it was straightened for direct navigation from north to south; in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it maintained the lifeline of the nation and reached its zenith. It includes the Sui-Tang Grand Canal, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and the East Zhejiang Canal, with a total length of more than 2,700 kilometers. Spanning over 2,500 years, it crosses eight provincial-level administrative regions including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, connecting the Haihe, Yellow, Huai, Yangtze, and Qiantang rivers, serving as the ancient transportation artery that linked east and west, north and south of China. It also extended westward to connect with the Eurasian Silk Road and eastward to the maritime trade routes.
The China Grand Canal is a great water conservancy project created by the ancient laboring people. It connected the political and economic centers of successive dynasties, playing an important role in China's political unity, economic development, and cultural prosperity. The people along the coast thrived, interacted, and integrated because of it. The exhibition is divided into four parts, comprehensively reflecting the spatiotemporal changes of the China Grand Canal, the wisdom of hydraulic engineering, state management, and the beautiful life it has brought to the people.
As an important symbol of Chinese civilization, the 'Grand Canal' was announced by the State Council in March 2013 as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units, and the 'China Grand Canal' was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in June 2014. This giant linear, living cultural heritage belt represents the great creativity, cohesion, and vitality of the Chinese nation, and will continue to shine brightly in the magnificent journey of creation in the new era of China.
A Visit to Ge Garden in Yangzhou | A Script Murder Mystery Tour in the Night
The Yangzhou in early spring is clear and bright, making it a perfect time for outings. With a longing for classical gardens, I embarked on a journey to Ge Garden in Yangzhou. Ge Garden, a private garden built during the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty 🌲, is world-renowned for its unique bamboo and rock landscapes and its four-season artificial hills.
Upon entering Ge Garden, the first thing that catches the eye is the lush bamboo forest, swaying in the wind as if telling ancient tales. Strolling along the winding paths, I felt a sense of peace and harmony, as if I were in a tranquil haven far removed from the hustle and bustle of the world.
The artificial hills in Ge Garden are particularly outstanding. Spring hills are for strolling, summer hills for viewing, autumn hills for climbing, and winter hills for dwelling. Each hill ingeniously utilizes different stones and techniques to create a landscape that changes with the seasons. I am especially fond of the autumn hill, with its layers of yellow stones resembling a three-dimensional autumn scroll, captivating and unforgettable.
In the evening, Ge Garden becomes even more enchanting. The setting sun's afterglow sprinkles over every corner of the garden, adding a touch of mystery and romance to this ancient garden. At this time, I learned that there was a script murder mystery game in the garden at night, and I eagerly signed up to participate.
The script murder game unfolded in an antique hall within Ge Garden. We were divided into different roles, each with our own secrets and missions. As the game progressed, we had to solve puzzles and outwit other players to uncover the truth behind the scenes.
Ge Garden at night seemed to transform into a stage full of suspense and excitement. We searched for clues in every corner of the garden, interacted with NPCs, and experienced unprecedented thrills and fun. In the end, after a fierce competition, we successfully solved the puzzle and revealed the truth.
My visit to Ge Garden in Yangzhou allowed me to appreciate the charm of classical gardens and experience the excitement and fun of the script murder game. Ge Garden at night has a unique flavor that is unforgettable. I believe that whether it is to appreciate the beauty of the garden or to experience the script murder game, Ge Garden is a place worth visiting time and again.

Yangzhou Travel Guide
This month, I must make a trip to Yangzhou. The itinerary is as follows: On the first day, visit Daming Temple, Slender West Lake, Ge Garden, Dongguan Street, Caiyi Street, and Wenchang Pavilion.
Daming Temple, named after the Daming era of Emperor Xiaowu of the Southern Song Dynasty, has a history of over 1500 years and is the foremost of the eight famous temples in Yangzhou. It is located at No. 8 East Road of Ping Shan Tang in Shugang, Xingjiang District, with an admission fee of 45 yuan (an additional 26 yuan is required for climbing the Qiling Pagoda).
Slender West Lake, in comparison to the famous West Lake in Hangzhou, appears more 'slender', exuding the delicate charm of a southern Yangtze River lady. Twenty-four Bridge: 'On a bright moonlit night by the Twenty-four Bridge, where does the jade person teach to play the flute?' The bridge is 24 meters long, 2.4 meters wide, with 24 columns and 24 steps. Wuting Bridge: 'One of the most beautiful ancient bridges in China', built during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, it combines the grandeur of the north with the grace of the south. It is located at No. 28 Dahongqiao Road in Xingjiang District, with a daytime ticket price of 100 yuan and 120 yuan at night. There is also a West Lake cruise, priced at 45 yuan.
Ge Garden, one of the four famous gardens in China, the other three being Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden, Beijing's Summer Palace, and Chengde's Mountain Resort. The garden is surrounded by green bamboo, with rockeries in all seasons, presenting a view at every step and fully displaying the beauty of classical gardens. It is located at No. 10 Yanfu East Road in Guangling District, with a ticket price of 50 yuan.

Here you can find the popular internet-famous background wall that looks good in any photo, as well as the special Biancheng Bookstore that only sells ancient books.
He Garden, also known as 'Jixiao Villa', enjoys the reputation of 'the best garden of the late Qing Dynasty'. Every corner is filled with classical charm. In March, the magnolias in the garden bloom splendidly. It is located at No. 66 Xuningmen Street in Guangling District, with a ticket price of 45 yuan.

Yangzhou | Ge Garden, this is a garden with personality
🚗 Ge Garden is located at No. 10 Yanfu East Road, Guangling District, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, in the northeast corner. It has been honored with the title of the third batch of 'National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units' and the 'First Batch of National Key Parks'. This Qing Dynasty private garden of Yangzhou salt merchants, named for its bamboo planting, is famous for its artificial mountains representing the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. It was expanded by the salt merchant Huang Zhiyun of the two Huai salt industries in the 23rd year of the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty (1818 AD) on the basis of the original Ming Dynasty 'Shouzhi Garden'.
🚗 Ge Garden is famous for its rockery art, with spring, summer, autumn, and winter artificial mountains made of bamboo shoots, lake stones, yellow stones, and Xuan stones, integrating garden design principles and landscape painting theories. Mr. Chen Congzhou, a master of garden art, praised it as a 'unique example in China'. In 2005, Ge Garden was honored as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, one of the twenty key parks in the country. 🚗 Jiangnan style gardens, those who know how to appreciate may find each garden has its own unique charm (of course, each owner has different preferences), like me who doesn't know much about it may think they all look similar, haha. However, when you walk into the large courtyards several times, you can indeed feel the former prosperity of the owners. Yangzhou was once a place where wealthy merchants emerged, and those who are interested can spend more time to explore.

Li Bai wrote, 'In the misty rain of March, I went down to Yangzhou';
Du Mu reminisced, 'A ten-year dream of Yangzhou';
I say, this is the Yangzhou that Emperor Qianlong visited every time he came to the south of the Yangtze River!

After several comparisons, I chose Ge Garden on Dongguan Street.
Ge Garden was built during the Ming Dynasty and is the oldest and best-preserved salt merchant's garden in Yangzhou, famous for its delicately stacked rockeries. The garden's owner, Huang Zhiyun, was originally from Hangzhou, and choosing to visit Ge Garden is also to see the mansion of a fellow townsman.

The bamboo and rocks of Ge Garden in Yangzhou
Ge Garden in Yangzhou, a private residence of a salt merchant, excels with bamboo and rocks, using them to construct spaces with grandeur and boldness. The difference between Yangzhou and Suzhou gardens lies in their similar forms but distinct spirits, also known as the 'Wumen' and 'Yang style', which is quite interesting.

Jiangsu Tourism | Embrace the Spring and Visit Yangzhou - Ge Garden in Yangzhou
Ge Garden
This private residence and garden was expanded by Huang Zhiyun, a salt merchant of the Lianghuai region during the Qing Dynasty, in the 23rd year of the Jiaqing era, based on the former Ming Dynasty 'Shouzhi Garden'. It is named for its abundant planting of green bamboo and is renowned for its rockeries representing the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The most distinctive feature of Ge Garden is the conceptualization and construction of the rockeries for the four seasons, built with bamboo shoots stone, lake stone, yellow stone, and Xuan stone. The garden's main theme is bamboo and stone, with the unique characteristic of using split peaks and stones.
The twelve zodiac stone animals symbolize spring, the Taihu stones represent the lush southern landscape of midsummer, the yellow stones enhance the lofty mountains of autumn, and the white snow stones highlight the cold feeling of the winter snow that has not yet melted. Each has its own characteristics, expressing the poetic and picturesque sentiment that 'spring is bright and smiling, summer mountains are lush and dripping, autumn mountains are clear and like makeup, and winter scenery is bleak and like sleep'.
Strolling in the garden, smelling the fragrance of magnolia flowers, listening to the melodious singing of birds, thus begins a day in the springtime of Jiangnan. Tease the fish in the pond, watch them scramble for food, their tiny tails stirring up sparkling water droplets. 'The swallows once graced the halls of nobles, now fly into the homes of the common folk.' Today, Ge Garden no longer witnesses the rise and fall of a family, but the ordinary days of countless common people.
🚄Transportation: Take a taxi from Yangzhou East Station, about a 20-minute ride, costing approximately 20 yuan, and get off at Dongguan Street to walk.
🎫Ticket: Off-season 30 yuan, peak season 45 yuan; there is also a night tour with a mansion banquet experience, priced at 55 yuan.
Yangzhou One-Day Tour Guide, Live Experience! Slender West Lake/Geyuan Garden/Grand Canal
Before the lunar March arrives, Yangzhou is already filled with the colors of spring. Magnolias, plum blossoms, peach blossoms, pear blossoms, they cover the trees and the city, and you can never take enough photos. The willow trees are freshly green, at their most beautiful moment. Photos taken on: March 19th
One-day highlights: Grand Canal Museum - Dongguan Street/Geyuan Garden - Slender West Lake - Grand Canal Night Cruise
🎈Arrive at the Grand Canal Museum before 9 am, the museum opens at 9. It's quite large, with majestic architecture, and mainly three exhibition halls inside, which are history, boats, and an antique market street. It's very crowded, so you must book in advance (free of charge). Be sure to go early, we left at 10:20 and it was already very, very crowded. It takes about 1-2 hours to walk around and take pictures.
🎈After leaving the museum, take a taxi to Dongguan Street. This street is so-so, full of small shops. Have some snacks here and head straight to Geyuan Garden (located on Dongguan Street)
🎈Geyuan Garden: The ticket is 48 yuan. Inside, the bamboo forest and garden are beautiful, with a stunning magnolia tree. About 1 hour should suffice here.
🎈Slender West Lake: The daytime ticket is 100 yuan. Walk from Geyuan Garden to the south gate of Slender West Lake. The lake is extremely beautiful at this time, stay as long as you wish to enjoy the scenery. We entered from the south gate, walked north to the lake's plum grove, and exited from the west gate. It took about 2.5 hours, and there was still a large area we didn't get to, too tired to walk.
🎈Night Cruise on the Grand Canal: After exiting the west gate, go back to the hotel for a rest (Fairfield by Marriott, right across from the west gate). Then take a taxi to Dongguan Ancient Ferry. There are many food options here, have dinner, and then you can take a boat for a night cruise. We don't like boat rides, so we just walked along the riverbanks, enjoying the night view, which was also very nice.

Yangzhou is a wonderful place
After nearly half a month of early spring outings in the Jiangnan region, the time has flown by, and the days in Yangzhou are particularly memorable and impressive. Having visited Yangzhou's Slender West Lake, Dongguan Street, Pishi Street, Ge Garden, He Garden, and Yipu, I've come to realize that China's exquisite gardens are not only found in Suzhou; Yangzhou's gardens have their own unique characteristics and charm. They seem to combine the strengths of gardens from both the north and south of China, an impression and feeling that only come after visiting both places in a short period of time. The wonderful scenes and charm can only be truly appreciated firsthand. Yangzhou's 'Three Knives' reflect the level of service industry and the leisurely historical traditions of the area. The delicious salty goose is unforgettable after tasting it, and during my stay in Yangzhou, I found myself craving it almost every day. The unique old goose recipe has a perfect balance of saltiness and a rich fragrance, leaving a lasting impression. A morning stroll on Guandong Old Street, the beauty of the sunset reflecting off the ancient city walls, the spring blossoms at Slender West Lake, the comfort of drinking tea, listening to singing, and watching performances in an old courtyard, and the grandeur and exhibitions of the Grand Canal Museum all make one feel the beauty of 'Yangzhou in blooming March'...
Yangzhou is a place you want to visit again after your first visit!

Hidden late autumn color in Jiangnan under the silver dressing. Shot in: Ye Chun Garden, Ge Garden
Yangzhou Gardens | Ge Garden, strikingly similar to Prince Gong's Mansion in Beijing
He Garden and Ge Garden each have their own beauty, and on my first visit to Yangzhou, I didn't want to miss either.
❤Recommended reason:
The final consensus with my friends: He Garden outshines Ge Garden. Why❓ Because there are way too many tour groups in Ge Garden. I spent less than 5 minutes in the Nanmu Hall and heard no less than 3 groups come in for explanations.
👍Most recommended:
Speaking of gardens alone, Ge Garden was once described by Liu Fenggao of the Qing Dynasty in 'Records of Ge Garden' as follows: 'Among the gardens of the leading families in Guangling, its fame tops the southeast.
Scholars and officials follow its legacy, managing a district at home, where tea plants flourish throughout the seasons, accommodating literary gatherings, with everyone finding their suitable place within.'
✅Bamboo
The original owner of Ge Garden was Huang Zhiyun, a Qing Dynasty salt merchant who had a passion for bamboo. There are more than sixty varieties of bamboo in the garden, with the bamboo forest occupying one-third of the entire garden.
The details of the indoor furniture also reveal 'bamboo shadows' everywhere.
Merchants' love for bamboo is not solely a literati's refined taste: the umbrella-shaped structure composed of three strokes symbolizes good timing, geographical convenience, and human harmony, roads leading everywhere, and also represents fortune, prosperity, and longevity, which are the highest realms that all merchants aspire to.
⏰Opening hours: Year-round 07:30-17:00 (last admission at 17:00)
💰Ticket price: 30 yuan
In the old garden, dreams are pursued and myriad things are sought, where the humble elegance and thousands of bamboo postures charm
Entering the garden known for its bamboo, we boast a variety of species, so this time we enter directly from the southern gate's back garden, first to see the landscape, then the residence. Although it's winter, the greenery of the southern scenery easily bewilders us northerners, especially the bamboo groves with their lush green color, making it hard to discern where one stands. A small garden, a place with stories.
Witness the four seasons of a garden, read the vicissitudes of a century
Visiting a private garden in Yangzhou during the Spring Festival holiday is a highlight, but two hours is still too short to do anything but skim the surface. One can only roughly experience the rich and varied garden scenery and the elegant and cultured life of wealth and luxury depicted in the owner's poetry and paintings. The ingenious ideas of the four-season rockery, as well as the historical figures' couplets and calligraphy treasures, cannot be explored and experienced one by one. When time permits, one must return to savor these in detail.
Dreaming of the South, a poetic home
During the Spring Festival, the highways are toll-free, and we drove all the way to the city of Yangzhou. Although it is not yet the time of peach blossoms and willows in the 'Fireworks in March', for us coming from the north, it already feels like spring is everywhere. In the personal garden, the vitality is further enhanced by the bamboo forests everywhere, and the combination of grey bricks, white tiles, and the natural colors of rockery and evergreens in the private gardens makes it feel as if we are in a painting.
Zhenjiang Yangzhou - Lifestyle tourism, so comfortable
Zhenjiang Yangzhou | Lifestyle tourism, mainly comfortable ||| During the Spring Festival holiday, I went to the less crowded Zhenjiang and Yangzhou for reverse tourism.
I went to Jinshan, Beigu Mountain and Xijin Ferry.
I also went to Slender West Lake, Ge Garden, Dongguan Street.
I also ate puffer fish, pot lid noodles, mixed meat, plum cake, thousand layer cake...
I ordered Starbucks in the city.
Eating, drinking, playing and having fun, very happy🥳
Yangzhou citywalk
📍Slender West Lake, where every casual shot is a scenic view. I highly recommend walking in and then taking a boat out. The views from the boat and the shore each have their unique features.
📍Ge Garden, one of the four famous gardens. I have to say that the ancients really knew how to enjoy life.
📍He Garden, the first garden of the late Qing Dynasty. Compared to Ge Garden, I prefer the layout of He Garden. He Garden has a combination of Chinese and Western architectural features. The interior decoration and layout are very different from traditional gardens, which is worth seeing.
📌The morning tea in Yangzhou is very good, but the one in Guangdong is more delicious haha. But I really like desserts. The lotus root starch balls are really delicious. The iced lotus root starch is also very special for the first time. Also, the jasmine-flavored yogurt from Yang University is the best haha.
I like places with few people.
See you next time, Yangzhou.
Ge Garden in Yangzhou, Jiangsu
Ge Garden is located in the northeast corner of Guangling District, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, No. 10 Yanfu East Road. It has won the titles of the third batch of 'National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units' and 'First Batch of National Key Parks'. This Qing Dynasty Yangzhou salt merchant's mansion and private garden, named for its bamboo plants, is famous for its four seasons of rockeries. It was expanded into a residential garden by Huang Zhiyun, the general merchant of the two Huai salt industries, in the 23rd year of the Qing Jiaqing (1818 AD) on the basis of the original Ming Dynasty 'Shouzhi Garden'.
Ge Garden is famous for its rockery art. The four seasons of rockeries made of bamboo shoots, lake stones, yellow stones, and Xuan stones blend the garden rules with the landscape painting, and are praised by Mr. Chen Congzhou, a master of gardens, as a 'unique example in China'.
Building layout: Ge Garden is a typical private residential garden. The whole garden is divided into a central garden, a southern residence, and a northern bamboo viewing area. Entering the garden from the residence, the first thing you see is the moon-shaped garden gate, and the stone plaque on the gate reads 'Ge Garden'. Behind the garden gate is the spring scene, the summer scene is located in the northwest of the garden, the autumn scene is in the northeast direction of the garden, and the winter scene is on the east side of the spring scene.
Main attractions:
Baoshan Building: Baoshan Building is a seven-bay long building, spanning between two summer and autumn mountains. The two mountains are east and west according to the building, and there are many mountain paths leading directly to the building. Baoshan Building connects the two mountains in space, and the long corridor in front of the building wraps around the two mountains in front of the chest, which is the origin of the name of Baoshan Building. On the long corridor of Baoshan Building, you can enjoy the summer and autumn scenes, so it is jokingly called the 'time and space tunnel' by modern people. On the south wall of the corridor below the building, there is a stone carving of 'Bamboo and Stone Record' written by Liu Fenghao of the Qing Dynasty.
Qingyi Pavilion: Qingyi Pavilion is a hexagonal small pavilion, tall and dignified, with a panoramic view of the garden. Around Qingyi Pavilion, many Taihu stones are arranged, and outside the Taihu stones are surrounded by a bend of green water. Qingyi Pavilion stands out under the heavy guard. Zhang Shuo and Qin Xiju praised Yangzhou Ge Garden Qingyi Pavilion: The weather contains bamboo air; the mountain light is full of lake light.
Congshu Building: Opposite Ge Garden, to the south of Dongguan Street, is the former residence of another large salt merchant in Yangzhou, Ma Riwu and Ma Rilu brothers, the Congshu Building of Xiaolinglong Mountain House, which has the reputation of 'the best in the north and south of the Yangtze River'. Later, the Ma family gradually declined with the decline of Yangzhou salt transportation, and Xiaolinglong Mountain House changed hands several times, and was finally bought by Huang Zhiyun as a separate courtyard, which was destroyed by war during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.
Zhuqiu Pavilion: Zhuqiu Pavilion, located on the south peak of Autumn Mountain, sits east and faces west, built against the wall, with windows on three sides. It is the largest building on the rockery in the whole garden. There are stone steps in the eastern courtyard that can go up to the south peak of Autumn Mountain. The couplet in front of the pavilion, 'Autumn enters from the sound of summer rain, and spring is found on the stamen of plum blossoms', was written by Zheng Xie (Zheng Banqiao).
Yiyu Pavilion: In the middle of the Four Seasons Garden of Ge Garden is the 'Yiyu Pavilion', which is three bays wide to the east and has empty windows on all sides, offering a panoramic view of the garden. The roof of the pavilion is made of Yangzhou's common black tiles, with the four corners slightly raised. There are several pieces of floral glass imported from France when the garden was built on the east and west walls. Yiyu Pavilion is the place where the garden owner receives guests. There is a couplet in front of the pavilion: It is suitable to tune the piano in the morning and play the harp in the evening, and the old rain is just right and the new rain is coming.
Miju Corridor: Miju Corridor has curved corridors and several small pavilions. It is the place where the host seeks poems. There is a couplet hanging 'The moon reflects the bamboo into a thousand words, and the frost is high and the plum is pregnant with a body of flowers'. Miju Corridor is connected to the west road building, to the northwest can reach the summer mountain, to the north can reach the main building of the 'Four Seasons Rockery' Yiyu Pavilion, to the east can reach the spring mountain and winter mountain.
