🏰 Fort SAN PEDRO- CEBU🇵🇭
Fort San Pedro, 🏰 the oldest and smallest triangular fort in the Philippines, is an 18th-century structure that served as an army garrison to repel aggressors during the Spanish regime. In the later years, through the advent of colonization, the fort was turned into a barracks (during the American reign), a school, an emergency hospital, a prison (during the Japanese reign), and a zoo before it became a historical park as it is seen today. Notable items inside the fort include paintings, real cannons, old photographs, and a triangular roof deck.

Cebu’s Fort San Pedro
Currently called the Plaza Independencia, is a military defense structure built during the 1700s. This fortress is made of stone-walls by the bare hands of the Filipinos under the supervision of the Spaniards. You can tell from the walls that this structure holds so much history and story. Although, it bears a sad and traumatizing story of the Cebuano’s past, today, it serves as a peaceful retreat from the chaos of the city. This was our last stop after a whole day of strolling around Cebu and indeed it was a great escape from a tiring day. The trees around the place provided a serene ambiance and the entire environment was just peaceful and safe.

Fort San Pedro is also one of the place you need to visit when in Cebu City. This old structure is amazing, but according to its history, the original structure was made by wood. You can see the history of structure just at the entrance and some old photos that shows its original structure. When you walk inside the fort, you just want to see architectural design and the old cannons that was used back then. There are also some paintings inside the Fort that will give you a glimpse of history.

In Cebu, there is a seemingly inconspicuous castle called Fort San Pedro that is situated right next to the port and the Castle of San Diego in Manila. It is known as the oldest castle in the Philippines and was built when Spain first arrived in the country. During World Way 2, the castle was used to defend against the Japanese army. The barracks that were used for the officers are now used as classrooms. The castle also has a museum and a butterfly valley. In Duma, there are a lot of interesting old buildings. There are many opportunities there for taking pictures.

Fort San Pedro and Plaza Independencia ✨
These places are two of my comfort and happy places here on Earth. There were times in the past when I feel down and sad, I would just go to these places to breathe and relax my mind. I am both thankful to the peace of mind and the cultural lessons that these places have given me in the past. ♥️

A beautiful cultural monument that captures a piece of Philippine history. A square where there was a war and a fortress that once protected the inhabitants. I recommend for all visitors Cebu City. Shooting is entirely allowed. Inside you will also find a small bar where you can buy water and much more. There is also a beautiful view of the square and the adjacent ocean. Entry is 30 pesos per person. It's one dollar. Again, as always, I ask to give more money to the public treasury of this monument or to the working people here. Filipino residents work for a very low paycheck. So be sure to think about it.

San Pedro Fort, located next to Cebu Port, is a colonial building. It is also one of the oldest castles in the Philippines. It was built by the Spanish invaders who first arrived in the Philippines to defend against Muslims in the southern Philippines.
When the Second World War, this castle was used to defend against the Japanese army. The US military was stationed here and used it as a camp. Many famous military officers were stationed here. There are a lot of traces of war here, which is said to have been deeply imprinted by the war. The San Pedro Fort next to the wharf is the first stop in Spain to enter Cebu, which was later converted into a memorial park. There is a museum in San Pedro Fort, which displays the art treasures of the ancient Spanish sailboats and the sunken San Diego.
The castle is like a big manor. The sun and the shade are dotted with the whole scene. The ancient mystery is full of atmosphere, so it is one of the most popular wedding photography locations in the area.
