Zhangzhou Ancient City🪷 the small temples I've walked through

🪷 Garan Temple, located next to the stone archway, is the smallest aerial temple in China. Below is a single-story passageway, and if you walk through the passageway and up the stairs, you'll reach Garan Temple. The space inside the temple is very small, and it feels crowded even with just two people praying at the same time. From the balcony of Garan Temple, you can see the archway, and the temple's incense burner is also placed on this small balcony. 🧐Note: Zhangzhou Garan Temple is the smallest aerial temple in China, and the qualifiers 'domestic' and 'aerial' are essential, otherwise there are smaller temples in Xiamen and Chaozhou. 🪷 Tongyuan Temple, just keep walking straight ahead from the opposite side of the Confucian Temple along Longyan Camp until you reach a large banyan tree. This temple is on the edge of the ancient city, and if you walk further out, you'll reach the riverside park by the Jiulong River. Built during the Ming dynasty and expanded in the Qing dynasty, it was requisitioned by the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom's Prince Li Shixian in the late Qing dynasty, so it is also known as 'Prince's Mansion'. This small temple, which has endured much hardship, now worships multiple deities and represents a fusion of multiple cultures and beliefs. 🪷 Dongqiao Pavilion Buddha Temple, this is what I consider the most down-to-earth small temple in Zhangzhou, a must-visit for all travelers to Zhangzhou, and the one I recommend praying at the most. Even when the doors are closed at night, passersby will pray at the temple gate, which fills me with immense respect for the ancient city's faith.
