Stockhorn – and striking Horn

It’s not hard to pinpoint the distinctive head of rock at the entrance to the Bernese Oberland – but the fact that you can stand pretty much on top to enjoy views direction Thun, Aare Valley and Bern as far as Jura is known to few. From the far end of the Simmen Valley, to give you a sense of direction, a cable car journeys in two sections over the Hinterstocken lake to the summit. The south side affords views of the snow-covered high Alps including the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and Blüemlisalp, while the panoramic viewing platform on the north side overlooks the Swiss Plateau.
