Longhua Ancient Town in Pingshan, Sichuan

The ancient town of Longhua was established in the Song Dynasty, and by the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it had formed the existing scale of the ancient town. This place has always been a key garrison town on the border of Sichuan. At the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, a guard was set up. In the ninth year of Yongzheng, the guard was changed to Ping'an Camp Du'si, which controlled the garrisons in Pingshan, Mabian, Muchuan, Leibo and other places. In the first year of Xianfeng (1851), a castle was built. Later, in the ninth year of Xianfeng, several Du'si had repaired it. The majestic stone lion of the Du'si Yamen is now moved to the head of the Liangqiao Bridge for people to admire. The ancient town is surrounded by water on three sides and mountains on one side. Three ancient streets are paved with stone slabs, winding along the mountain. The two sides of the street have more than a thousand houses, which basically retain the characteristics of Ming and Qing commercial and residential buildings. They are all arranged in wooden structures. The buildings are mostly flat or one-story wooden buildings. From Shunhe Street to Xiazhai Gate, it is only three or four meters wide. The multi-platform stone steps are lined with shops on both sides, and they are lined up. Every time on the market day, walking in the crowd, it reminds people of the 'Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival'. The Longhua Temple, built in the 25th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1545), is large in scale and covers an area of about 4,000 square meters; next to it is the Palace of King Yu. Out of Xiazhai Gate, you will reach the Anlan Qinghong Bridge, which is commonly known as Liangqiao. Liangqiao was originally paved with wooden boards, and tile houses were built on the bridge to form a long corridor.
