Tianshui - The birthplace of Fuxi and Nuwa, the ancestors of Chinese civilization

I used to know Tianshui, which is named after the legend of 'Tianhe pouring water', for its world-famous Maijishan, one of the four major grottoes in China, and the famous geographical indication product Hua Niu apple. But it was not until I actually arrived in Tianshui, located on the southeastern edge of Gansu Province, that I was amazed to find that it was the birthplace of Fuxi and Nuwa, the ancestors of Chinese civilization. The Fuxi Temple on Fuxi Road in the West Gate of Qincheng District of Tianshui City is currently the largest and best-preserved Ming Dynasty architectural complex commemorating one of the three ancient emperors, Fuxi, known as the 'First Temple of China'. The Fuxi Temple, originally named Taihao Palace and commonly known as Renzong Temple, was built between the 19th and 20th years of the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty (1483-1484), and has undergone nine renovations, forming a large-scale architectural complex, one of the famous ancient architectural complexes in the northwest of China. The Fuxi Temple faces north and is built facing the street, with courtyards nested within each other, four entrances and four courtyards, vast and deep. The ancient buildings in the temple include 10 buildings: the theater building, the archway, the main gate, the ceremonial gate, the Xiantian Hall, the Taiji Hall, the bell tower, the drum tower, and the Laihe Hall; the new buildings include 6 buildings: the morning room, the stele corridor, and the exhibition hall. There are a total of 76 rooms in the new and old buildings. Since Fuxi is the first emperor in ancient legends, the architectural complex is in the form of a palace, and it is the largest Fuxi sacrificial architectural complex in the country. The entire architectural complex includes the archway, the main gate, the ceremonial gate, the Xiantian Hall, and the Taiji Hall arranged in order along the longitudinal axis, advancing layer by layer, solemn and majestic.
