Heshun: A Town of Charm

Heshun Ancient Town is located in the southwest of Tengchong, stretching for miles along the mountains and waters, with beautiful natural scenery and a layout of ancient buildings. For over six hundred years, Han culture has blended with the culture of border minorities and exotic cultures here, forming the Heshun culture centered on 'harmony and smoothness,' known as the 'living ancient town.' It has been honored with titles such as 'China's Most Charming Famous Town,' 'Third Batch of China's Historical and Cultural Famous Towns,' 'National Civilized Village,' and 'Characteristic Town of Yunnan Province.' The majority of Heshun Ancient Town's Han residents are descendants of people from Sichuan and Jiangnan who came to Yunnan to engage in military and civilian farming in the early Ming Dynasty. Stepping into Heshun Ancient Town is like being in the water towns of Jiangnan, with clear water winding around the village, shaded by green trees, and ancient and elegant buildings built along the water, full of the charm of Jiangnan water towns. Heshun Library in the town is one of the largest rural libraries in China. In 1924, the 'Heshun Reading Society' was established. With the strong support of overseas Chinese, in 1928, the 'Heshun Reading Society' was expanded into a library. The Dewey Decimal Classification system from the United States was adopted for cataloging and managing the collection, and the library was moved to its current location. The plaque for 'Heshun Library' was written by Mr. Zhang Li, a local scholar, and hung up. The Heshun Library is a traditional Chinese building with a front garden, elegant and beautiful. The library houses over ten thousand books, among which many ancient books are especially precious. In June 2006, it was announced by the State Council as a 'National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.' ⏳Visiting Time: Tickets are required for the visit, with a price of 55 yuan, and the visiting time ranges from half a day to 1 day.
