Nanhua Youlu Mansion in Meizhou, Guangdong, is a hometown of overseas Chinese

Nanhua Youlu Mansion, built in the 12th year of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1886), was completed in the 30th year of the Guangxu period (1904) by Xiangchu, a 15th generation descendant of the Pan family, who was a leader among the overseas Chinese in Indonesia. Facing southeast, it is a large-scale traditional Hakka residential two-story building with a tile roof, a timber and stone dual-structure, and a hard mountain top. The total width is 92.59 meters, the total depth is 108.98 meters, and it covers an area of about 9,500 square meters; it consists of the gate platform, outer walls, main hall, rear courtyard, horizontal cushion houses, and a surrounding arc-shaped rear garden. The lower hall is three bays wide, and the main door's plaque is inscribed in granite with the words 'Nanhua Youlu' in regular script by the founder, with a rigorous and robust calligraphic structure. The front eaves gallery uses a four-beam coiled shed roof. The central hall has a lifted beam style and a through-purlin beam frame structure, with melon columns and gold-decorated wooden carvings. Behind the hall, there are cushion houses and flower beds. The hall is flanked by wing rooms, with elegant gable walls in the style of Da Bei Shui. The front and rear courtyards feature flower walls, open galleries, goldfish ponds, flower platforms, and hexagonal pavilions. The mansion has a total of 164 rooms, 46 cushion houses, and dozens of large and small halls, commonly known as 'ten halls and nine wells,' reflecting the high architectural structure and artistic characteristics of traditional Hakka residences in Meixian County. In July 2002, it was announced as a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
