Mountain Home, Wangwu Mountain Residence

Wangwu Mountain We stayed in the Wangwu Mountain Scenic Area in Jiyuan, Henan for two days, and we lived in the 'Wangwu Mountain Residence' nestled in the mountains. Wangwu Mountain Residence is a homestay with a 5-story building, the yard is not very big, but it's filled with green plants, giving a vibrant and lively feeling. The accommodation conditions of the homestay are good, and the rooms are decorated in a simple style. Since it's not far from the old street of Wangwu Mountain, we basically had our meals there. Caught in the rain, we simply ordered a couple of dishes, and with the local specialties bought from the old street, our meal was easily settled. Wangwu Mountain's special foods include 'Egg Unflipped', yam mixed grain crispy pancakes, and various types of braised noodles, etc. A shop on the street with the sign 'Egg Unflipped' attracted our curious eyes. Following the aroma, we witnessed the whole process of making the eggs. It turns out that 'Egg Unflipped' is just a pastry made with a special utensil with a raised middle, containing flour, eggs, and other mixtures. The yam mixed grain crispy pancake has local characteristics, crispy, similar to Beijing's 'Pai Cha'. In Henan, braised noodles are a must-try. In the Wangwu Mountain Scenic Area, what we saw the most was something called 'Tumoh'. It is made mainly of flour, with eggs, sesame, hawthorn, yam, chicken head ginseng, and local honey as auxiliary ingredients, baked with a unique white clay from Wangwu Mountain as the baking medium, containing various trace elements and nutritional value. When staying at Wangwu Mountain Residence, there was a vessel filled with purple fruit-like items in the hall. Later, seeing guests taking cups to get the liquid inside, we learned that it was wine brewed with wild mountain grapes as the main ingredient, along with mulberries and goji berries, and it tasted very good. Blueberries and melon seeds are also commonly seen in the scenic area, and many tourists take away some roasted nuts when they leave.
