Saigon-The pearl of the far east
My 1-day trip to Saigon was a fantastic experience, and one of the highlights was visiting the Saigon Post Office. The post office is a beautiful colonial building that showcases the city's rich history and architectural beauty.
Upon entering the post office, I was immediately struck by its grandeur and old-world charm. The interior is adorned with elegant French-inspired designs, from the high ceilings with ornate chandeliers to the intricate mosaic floor.
One of the main attractions of the Saigon Post Office is the stunning central hall, which houses numerous counters for sending and receiving mail. The atmosphere was bustling with activity as locals and tourists alike went about their postal needs. It was fascinating to witness the efficiency and organized operation of this historic post office.
I also had the opportunity to explore the many small shops within the post office, where I found a variety of unique souvenirs, stamps, and postcards to bring back home. The staff was friendly and helpful, providing me with recommendations and information about the post office's history.
Overall, my 1-day trip to Saigon and the Saigon Post Office was a delightful experience. I highly recommend visiting this iconic landmark for its architectural beauty, historical significance, and the chance to capture a glimpse of Saigon's vibrant atmosphere. Inggat! ❤️👋#Saigon #Vietnam #Southest Asia #Young #solotravel
an ACTUAL post office to visit in Vietnam 💌🏤
#timetotravel
I am pleasantly surprised by the fact that the Vietnamese has turned an active post office (that is still in operation) into a tourist attraction where you can buy stamps, postcards and other souvenirs and mail it internationally. This is so smart!!
I did some digging by the shop and managed to get two really cute stamp sets for 120,000 Dong each (~40 HKD each).
I remember seeing it costs around 50,000 Dong (~17 HKD) to send a postcard internationally but do check with the counter if you intent to send a postcard.
NOTE: the post office closed at 5pm so make sure you do not miss its opening hours

Saigon Central Post Office
One of my favorite place to visit in Ho Chi Minh city, it's called Saigon Central Post Office.
Located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh city, Saigon Central Post Office has various type of postcards and souvenirs. Tourist can come here, pick their favorite postcards, write on them, and send immediately to all over the world through this post office. Many cute Vietnam souvenirs also available here.
The location is just next to the beautiful Basilica Notre-Dome Saigon. You can go here by motorbike taxi from your hotel. It's cheap and fast ✨

Tan Dinh Church Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Exploring the Pink Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City! 🌸⛪️
Vietnam is home to many beautiful churches due to its colonial history, showcasing a strong French influence in its architecture. One must-visit is the Jesus Sacred Heart Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City, a vivid reminder of the French colonial era. Another historical pink church worth exploring is Tan Dinh Church.
Location:
The Jesus Sacred Heart Cathedral is approximately 15 minutes away from the Central Post Office. Situated in the bustling area of Ho Chi Minh City, it is surrounded by numerous eateries, making it a perfect spot for an afternoon tea. However, be cautious of the hectic motorbike traffic; Vietnamese motorcyclists can be quite daring.
Visiting Hours:
The church is closed on Sundays and Mondays due to worship services. Additionally, from Tuesday to Saturday, the church is not open to visitors from 12 PM to 2 PM. The best time for photography is around 4-5 PM when the light is soft. Note that photography is not allowed inside the church.
Tips:
- Entrance to the church is free.
- The café on the opposite side of the church on the second floor offers a nice view.
- Interior photography is prohibited.
- Keep your belongings secure and pay attention when crossing the road due to heavy traffic.
- As travel agencies typically don't include this spot, the crowd is mostly composed of independent travelers.

Pink Church in Vietnam 🇻🇳🌸💐🌷🎀🩷🩰
This church is deemed one of the oldest catholic church in Ho Chi Minh City, definitely worth a visit for its history as well as the aesthetic exterior!!!
When I visited, I was not allowed to enter the church for some reasons, so I would advise you to double check the opening hours if you wish to go inside the church.
Apart from taking pictures within close proximity with the church, I would also advise to visit either one of the cafes across the street. I visited Cộng Cà Phê and was lucky to grab a seat right by the window so I can enjoy the view while drinking coffee in aircon room!!

Places worth visiting in Saigon
#vianasjourney #awesomepic
Going on a short stay holiday is really rushing honestly and you didn’t have much time to explore around to decide what’s best to visit in that short period of time. But if you are someone who likes nice pictures and good food, then let me suggest this places for you.
First is this catholic church called Tan Dinh Church, it has this pastel pink-orange shade that makes it looks different and stand out compare to other building. It’s better to visit the place super early in the morning as it’s less crowded but not on sunday though as they have mass since early morning. Second is city hall, take a picture from this side so you can avoid traffic from interfering with the ‘shooting’ process. Third is (for food option) cafe apartment, it has many types of food available here and it’s honestly one of best meal I had in Saigon fPrice are reasonable). Other food you have to try is of cource their pho and I tried the one at Pho 2000 and it suit my taste.

✈️ A Smooth Flight with Vietnam Airlines!

📍 KUL - HCMC on Flight VN676, Airbus A321 twin jet.
🍛 Food was surprisingly good! Had the egg fried rice with marinated pork.
👍 Aircraft was quite dated but clean & in good condition. Pretty impressed with the cabin crew service, most importantly departure was on time. (unlike A red Airline ahem...)

One of Vietnam's most modern and nicest airports
HCMC airport is right near the city. In fact you can argue it's right in the city and it's a shirt 30 min bus ride to the city or a good 15-20 mins taxi ride depending on the traffic.
It's separately in both domestic and international terminals and the 2 are connected by an outdoor covered walkway. However a word if advice, immediately in front of the domestic terminal you'll find most of the cheaper eateries.
The international terminal seemed to be the newer one of the two and it was spacious clean and nice. It's comfortable enough for a longer layover but it still lacks some more dining options and other facilities.

ARE YOU A FAN OF AIRPORT LOUNGE ? JASMINE LOUNGE
Yes, indeed I am. This particular airport lounge in Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam is really special as it is HALAL certified - Jasmine Business Lounge.
So Muslims can dine here without a single doubt.
For $43, we got to enjoy food, it is not local cuisine but mediterranean. We were actually looking forward for beef pho and a bit upset as there was none !
Our mistake for not reading the lounge signage at entrance.
The downside is, there is no shower facilities !
Gosh ! We badly need to freshen up after a long night bus journey ! Again our mistake for not checking first with the reception, I guess we just got too excited to get into the lounge and indulge 😅 !
But thanks for the prayer rooms ! It is small but enough ! Separate rooms male and female !
Thumbs up !
The lounge was practically empty when we were there and in fact, we were the only guests ! And so we got the window seat and enjoyed looking at planes landing and taking off.

Tan Son Nhat International airport
Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat International Airport ( SGN) is the usual destination for those coming to the south of Vietnam.
Tan Son Nhat airport is fairly small and although there are duty frees on sale the range is limited. If you want to buy any local specialities, buy before you go to the airport since you have more choices in the city center. If you find your flight is delayed or you need to store your bags for whatever reason, head for the arrivals level of the International terminal.

Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Notre Dame Cathedral - Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
This cathedral in a quiet central area of the city is Ho Chi Minh City's hallmark and its most famous architectural landmark.
The cathedral was built between 1863 and 1880 on the site of a former Vietnamese pagoda. All the materials were brought from France. For many years it was called the Saigon Temple, and in 1962 the Pope performed the rite of anointing, after which the name of the building was changed to Saigon Notre Dame, and it became the main cathedral of the country.

Notre Dame Catherdal of Saigon
Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon is one of the top tourist spots in Ho Chi Minh City. Built between 1863 to 1880 by French engineer Jules Bourard, this French guy had high trust in French products because most of the construction materials were imported from France, including bricks and stones. The architect initially named it the Church of Saigon.
The impression of this church is a mix of church design between Roman and Gothic styles. The locals know this church for having the biggest pair of bells in Vietnam.
Located in the central city of Ho Chi Minh, this church is not just for worshippers but also for the tourist to admire its beauty, as I do. Notre Dame Cathedral can host around 1,200 people; therefore, its the largest church in Ho Chi Minh.

Norte-Dame Cathedral in Saigon.
Notre-Dam Cathedral is one of the most important religious and historical building in Ho Chi Minh. The location is quite convenient as it is in the hearth of the city's down town. The recommended sightseen time is half an hour or maximum one hour. It is more comfortable to visit this place in the morning or late afternoon as the weather is quite hot. After the visit, you can also enjoy some shopping or nice food as there are many restaurants and shops around the area. This place is open everyday from 8am to 4pm.

Cu Chi Tunnel Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
experience the life of a Vietnamese soldier 🧑🏭
#timetotravel
We booked a guided half day tour with the local operator Tnktravel.
Will definitely recommend booking a guided tour because you will be lost without explanations and travelling to Cu Chi Tunnel itself takes around 2 hours.
Given the name Cu Chi Tunnel, the main attraction is most definitely the tunnel. There are tunnels of different lengths for tourists to attempt, from 5 metre to 100 metre. I am personally not that big, and not generally claustrophobic, so I managed to go through the tunnel with no issues. But so be warned, if you are bigger and have joint issues, you might have difficult going through the tunnel because you have to be a constant squatting position!!
Thanks to our guide Patrick, as well as the interactive element of the Cu Chi Tunnel (walking through the tunnel, visiting the different bunkers and looking at the different traps Vietnamese soldiers used to set targeting the American soldiers), we learned so much about the history of the Vietnam war from the Vietnamese perspective and the intelligence and hard work of Vietnamese soldiers.

Cu Chi Tunnels Tour
Another tour I joined while in Ho Chi Minh was the Cu Chi Tunnels tour. Again I had Jen as my tour guide and she was incredibly full of knowledge. We had the chance to go inside the tunnels as well, I made it to 40m inside before leaving, while some people continued to 100m. The tunnels area is vast and the sound of gun fire can be heard throughout. To shoot in the gun range, 600.000k Dong will be necessary for 10 bullets.
The tunnels are really interesting to visit, going inside also is insightful.

Immersive war experience at Cu Chi Tunnels

#throwback #2017
The tunnels of Củ Chi are an immense network of connecting tunnels located in the Củ Chi District of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underlie much of the country.
Located around 44 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the network of tunnels are built to communicate and supply arms during the resistance against French occupation and later during US proxy war. It’s right in the middle of jungle and needs an hour or more of hiking and exploring to learn and understand how they survived, resisted and defended themselves during decades of war and occupation. It’s heartbreaking and difficult to imagine the past struggles and bruises of this country that is merry and bustling now. The war memorial museums and tunnels like these will remind you of consequences of war specially when they had no part in it, to be the proxy victim of power struggles between foreign superpowers and be defenseless against such interventions.
