The pill is formed, and the dragon and tiger appear—Mount Longhu

Mount Longhu is located 20 kilometers southwest of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, with its highest peak, Tianmen Mountain, at an altitude of 1300 meters. Mount Longhu is China's eighth World Natural Heritage site, a World Geopark, a national site of natural and cultural heritage, a national 5A-level tourist attraction, and a key national cultural relics protection unit. In the middle of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daoling, the founder of the Zhengyi Dao, practiced alchemy here. It is said that 'the pill is formed, and the dragon and tiger appear,' hence the mountain was named. Mount Longhu and Guifeng include important morphological types of individual and group Danxia landforms in China's subtropical humid region. The diversity of morphological types has created a unique combination of Danxia peak forest landforms and pictographic Danxia landscapes. The Danxia individual landforms in the Mount Longhu and Guifeng area cover almost all types in the subtropical humid region. The Danxia group landforms in the Mount Longhu and Guifeng area are characterized by erosion remnants of flat-topped and round-topped peak clusters; the area near the Luxi River and Guifeng is marked by peak forest-type Danxia landforms, which are model areas for broad valley sparse Danxia peak forest landforms. There is also a large east-west oriented deep fault zone hidden in the deep crust of Mount Longhu, which has been stable. The overlying fault depression basin was formed through long-term inherited activity on this ancient fault zone, developing from an initial depression basin to a later fault depression basin, and finally tending towards stability. In the northern part of the South China block, there is a second-level geotectonic unit, the 'Wuyi Uplift,' and the Mount Longhu area is on the northern edge of the Wuyi Uplift. Mount Longhu is a typical Danxia landform landscape in China and the birthplace of Taoism. It joined the Global Geoparks Network in 2007. The Danxia landform of Mount Longhu consists of two Danxia mountains developed in the middle section of the southern edge of the Xinjiang Basin in southeastern China, composed of late Cretaceous continental piedmont alluvial fan block red sandstone and conglomerate. On August 2, 2010, Mount Longhu and Guifeng were jointly included in the 'World Natural Heritage List.' On November 19, 2017, Mount Longhu received the Annual Tourism Destination Reputation Award. Major scenic areas of Mount Longhu include the Shangqing Palace Scenic Area, the Tianshi Mansion Scenic Area, the Mount Longhu Scenic Area, the Xianyan Shuiyan Scenic Area, the Rock Tomb Group Scenic Area, the Elephant Trunk Mountain Paiya Stone Scenic Area, and the Dufeng Mazu Rock Scenic Area. Mount Longhu's summer opening hours are from 7:30 to 17:30, and winter hours are from 8:00 to 17:00. The suitable season for visiting is from June to September. You can reach Mount Longhu in Yingtan by train, long-distance bus, airplane, or boat.
