Sweet Water Beach - Crete, Greece

Sweet Water Beach (Glykanera) is located on the west of Mount Sfakion, the beach is surrounded by cliffs. The beach is called Sweetwater (Glykanera) because spring water can be found just below the surface of the pebbles. It's perfectly good drinking water. Fortunately it can't be accessed by road and that keeps it out of the reach of mass-tourism. It can be reached by a small daily ferry (from May to October) or by walking 3.5 kilometers along the coastal path. There is a small cafe on the beach where you can rent umbrellas and sun loungers.
