After returning home and doing some research, I found out that the name 'Fuji' comes from the 'Ainu language' of Japan, which is spoken in the Hokkaido region, and it means 'immortality.' The original pronunciation comes from the language of the Ainu people, a Japanese ethnic minority, meaning 'Mountain of Fire' or 'Fire God.' 'Mount Fuji' is one of the world's largest active volcanoes, spanning Shizuoka and Yamanashi Prefectures, close to the Pacific coast, and about 80 kilometers southwest of Tokyo. It is currently dormant, but geologists still classify it as an active volcano, which could erupt at any time.
