Charoen Krung Road is located in the Samphanthawong district of Bangkok, Thailand, and is one of Bangkok's oldest roads and international ports. It is 8.5 kilometers long and connects several landmarks including the Grand Palace, Little India Phahurat, Chinatown, the old foreign trade area, Mandarin Oriental, and the riverside night market, linking the royal, Indian, Chinese, and 19th-century foreign communities. During the era when Bangkok's trade was dominated by shipping, diplomats, merchants, and foreigners all gathered in the riverside area south of Chinatown, which was as bustling as Shanghai's Bund at the time, and many old European-style buildings are still preserved to this day.
