Amestardam.the magical city day and night

Some tips on what's hot & what's not in Amsterdam...as we found it anyway.On arrival...catch the train from Schipol to Central Station...only 3.6 Euro's one way & very efficient/ comfortable...why pay 40Euro + in a cab!!! Then get yourself a strip of tickets for the trams about 5.5 Euro's for 15...(potentially 7 trips)...We stayed at the Eden Rembrandt nr Rembrandt Square which was pretty good VFM...reasonably central,if a little noisy.Ask for a room at the back on a high floor would be my tip? The maids could be better...something different was not done every day (but nothing major) What is said about the beds is true...so comfy !!! LCD TV's in the rooms & net access in the lobby too. Don't eat there tho'...good breakfasts available nearby & plenty of other great places to eat nearby (Pasta a Basta - good entertainment with your meal,Casa a David,an absolutely top notch Italian...don't miss it,Park Plaza Brasserie,ok for a quick bite to eat & Smit's just across from CS,for lunch downstairs (Pea soup MMMmmmm!!!!) We didn't think much of the Koh I Noor Indian tho' very average.We went to Anne Franks house (get there early & go into the 'Have your say' bit..very interesting),on the Canal Bus - 3 routes...very good,even if one of the boats did break down !!! took the train to Delft,stopping at the Hague on the way back (20 Euro return)...see loads for your day.Also had a quick visit thro' the Red Light,well you have to don't you...just be careful & don't carry much with you !!! Don't forget to go on the Free Ferry to IJplein & the Java Island & then walk back,the alternative views are worth it.Did loads of walking to see the sights...churches & canals etc....you'll love it,we did.
