Schloss Roxburghe Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Country Villa Hotel
Once a typical country villa hotel of the Duke of Roxburghe's Borders estate, it is now a Destination by Hyatt hotel.
Roxburghe Castle has a long and interesting history, telling many stories of romance, war and ** since the 12th century, including the handsome Prince Charles and the white rose bush that is said to still be in bloom.
Recently underwent a large-scale renovation and reconstruction, providing an additional 58 bedrooms and 12 luxury Scottish cottages, a new restaurant and spa facilities. The bar, restaurant, light-filled spa centre, golf and country sports make up a holiday resort.
Upon arrival at the hotel, the first thing that comes into view is the glorious past: tartan carpets, oversized carved fireplace by the fireplace, elegant living room and cosy library bar. Then, through the State Hall lounge, you will reach the eye-catching modern wing, where the space is spacious, well-lit and has a wide view.
The Roxburghe Castle Hotel is indeed a place where one can recharge and relax, mainly with few people and no children's noise, relax and enjoy the pleasure, plus the weather was very good during the stay, overall the service was not bad, quite sincere, at least it was really smiling, but the CI could be improved a bit, such a large resort, at least a brief introduction of the entertainment facilities and so on, the experience would be more perfect!
Schloss Roxburghe Hotel a weekend getaway!
The place was lovely we decided to book to stay the weekend in a cottage and we used the spa and swimming pool in the hotel. The whole of the hotel grounds was lovely and you could take a nice walk around. They even offered, golf, archery, fly fishing etc. The only disappointment about the hotel was the service and the breakfast which was cold:for a 5 star hotel experience it was a let down. 😕

Scotland | OMG the world's largest undulation
Today's OMG travel destination that we recommend is the Great Polish Map located on the border of Scotland. This should be the largest relief model in the world. This large physical terrain map, which is 40 meters long and 50 meters wide and sculpted with concrete, is definitely a unique feature in the Scottish landscape.

Scotland and Poland Map
Built between 1974 and 1979, this map meticulously depicts all the contours of the Scottish lowlands and highlands at a scale of 1:10,000. The map measures approximately 50 meters by 40 meters and is located in an elliptical pit surrounded by a 142-meter-long wall, making it the largest known 3D map in the world. What makes it particularly special is that the map is surrounded by a small stream, which forms lakes and streams as it flows into the map.
Historical anecdotes
Its origin in Scotland can be traced back to World War II. After the war, many Polish people were unable to return home due to Soviet takeover, and a large number of them decided to settle in Scotland. Among the many settlers was Sergeant Tomasik, who, through a combination of hard work and luck, saved enough money to purchase the dilapidated buildings in Edinburgh and transform them into a hotel. This is the origin of the Barony Castle Hotel, located on the map of Greater Poland.

St Abbs Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
St Abb's Head, a lesser-known attraction in Scotland, is where Thor got fat.
St Abb's Head, a small fishing village in Scotland, is a niche attraction and also the filming location for Avengers 4. It is also the secluded and fattening place where Thor drinks his small wine.
It's hard to imagine seeing a stunning summer sea view in the orange autumn of Scotland. The contrast between the Klein blue sea and the reefs, the green hills and villages on the shore, and the picturesque scenery make you marvel from the moment you get off the car.
This is the mysterious village where the Thunder God resides, like a paradise on earth, rarely disturbed by outsiders, and the slow pace always brings peace to visitors.
Go fishing with fishermen, enjoy the sea breeze, feed the seagulls, occasionally accompanied by seals, catch a mackerel and generously feed it. If you want to temporarily retreat, quietly sit in a corner of the village, away from the world.
