This is my impression of stopping by for a hot spring while heading south from Morioka towards Yamagata using the general road. From Shizukuishi, drive along Iwate/Akita Prefectural Route 1 through Yokote, pass Yuda Kogen, go a little further, then turn left. Going down a narrow mountain road with hairpin curves, you will enter a village, and if you go a little further you will find Nango Yume Onsen Kyorinso. The building is larger than I expected. The parking lot is quite large, but there are many cars with local license plates parked there. Perhaps it was because it was a Sunday afternoon, but it seems to be popular with locals. The reception was also crowded. The bathing fee was 500 yen, and PayPay was available. This facility has two hot springs with different quality, and the hot water from each source is provided directly from the source at the main bath and the new large communal bath. The main building has an indoor bath only, and the new building has a small open-air bath. First, enter the large public bath in the new building. Both the changing room and the indoor bath are spacious and spacious. The hot water from alkaline simple hot springs is a little slippery and has almost no odor. Many yellow ocher flowers were dancing at the spout of the open-air bath. It was written that only the open-air bath would be heated during the winter, disinfected with chlorine, and circulated through filtration, but my nose couldn't detect any signs of that. Put on your clothes, move to the main bath, and take a bath again. This one has a more compact structure. The alkaline simple sulfur spring had a pretty strong sulfur smell. However, it may have something to do with the fact that the bathroom was closed with a notice saying that the window was broken. The hot water was good here as well, but I was a little concerned about whether it would be okay in terms of coronavirus countermeasures since so many people were bathing in a space with insufficient ventilation. Accommodations are reasonably priced, starting from 5,600 yen including tax for a room without meals, and 7,350 yen for a night with two meals included, so it might be a good idea to stay overnight and take a relaxing bath. It's not luxurious at all, but I think people who like hot springs will find it relaxing.
