Palais Coburg Residenz

Vienna|0.53km from Alte Post
First the location is so central and you can get anywhere very easily. The ring tram is one block from entry. The hotel and rooms are stunningly gorgeous. The room that we stayed in is so spacious. It had one bedroom, kitchenette, full dining room, entry and a full bath with walk-in shower and a second half bath. The bedding is very luxurious with soft down pillows and comforter. The blanket is also soft down and very comforting. The people working here are amazingly helpful and kind. All of them. Whoever does the hiring should be praised. Gunther is real gentleman and his only interest is to make our stay comfortable and welcome. His team at the front desk, Tamara, Franziska and new trainee, Ana are the day crew. The were so helpful in so many ways. Always available and willing to do anything and everything for us. The night crew, Yusef and Zeljko took care of a few minoradjustments even late as we were checkin in. Sasha and Kornel were in charge of greeting people at the door. They were such nice gentlemen. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Ashish was also really nice and helpful. I hope that I have not left anyone out because they all contributed to making sure our stay was so good. The people who took care of the rooms have done superb job. I had the good fortune to attend a private wine tasting in their cellar. For those who don’t know Palais Coburg actually has the largest wine collection of the greatest wines in the world. I cannot remember if it 30,000 or 60,000 bottles. Niklas who did the tour for me is a young sommelier who knows a lot. He also works in the 2 Michlin star restaurant on the premises. He guided me magnificently. He tells the whole story of the rebirth of Palais Coburg by the new owner. “You get treated like royalty staying here. We LOVED staying here.

Ruby Lissi Hotel Vienna

My wife treated me to a surprise trip away for our anniversary and when we were walking through the bar to reception (which is at the end of the bar) she apologised as I think was disappointed. She was wanting the elegance and luxury of a more traditional luxury hotel. Well while she apologised I can assure you that while the place was quirky, like a boutique hotel is I guess, we had a great 5 day stay. From the outside it doesn’t look like a hotel and you clearly walk through some kind of foyer to enter the bar area of which the reception area sits on the end and same staff serve and welcome you. The staff I have to say couldn’t have been more friendly, always saying hello with a smile and no issues for anything. The bar area is a nice modern quirky (I’ve used that word twice now, but that’s how I would describe it) one. We drank in there a couple of times and was reasonably priced and nice drinks (lots of lime n lemon in our g&t’s😀). Lifts to the rooms are only accessible if u present ur room card so security wise it’s good and then the room itself where after we arrived I read and saw some not too favourable reviews, but I have to say they worked. They are rather small but actually big enough. The shower and toilet are in a glassed off area so k get why others have said no privacy etc but reality is there is a curtain u can pull across if u want. The shower was great and powerful with 2 varieties of both shampoo and shower gel so no moans from us. In terms of storing ur clothes there was a wardrobe with a few hangers (although we asked for some more and got them so no issues here) and a high shelf. This shelf is really too high to store ur clothes on as even despite being 6’4 I couldn’t see so it’s just for storing ur bags. So you can hang you clothes up put where do u put ur underwear or socks as no drawers !! That was a slight negative and a bit of a funny one but apart from that and a hard floor was our only real area where we could have said improvements could be made- why an issue with the hard floor, well it’s hard to clean and keep hair and dust free so when u come out of the shower u tend to find all the bits around…. The bed itself is a big one and have to say suuuuuper comfy. Neither of us had any issues sleeping once we found that we could open the windows as otherwise the ac didn’t seem to work effectively and the room was boiling… we had the 3 windows constantly open night and day and despite it being city centre ish didn’t really experience loads of noise so that was fine and didn’t have to get dry throats due to excessive ac. One strange thing I’ve never experienced, and maybe this Is due to the heat, there are two quilts on the bed, not one each running lengthways but two, the first one running across the bottom of the bed and covering your feet and legs and the top one covering your upper half…. That was weird and couple of time there ended up being big gaps when they had come away from each other.. Something else that was

Hotel Austria - Wien

I have been to Hotel Austria twice, both for the Christmas holidays when the nearby Rotenturmstrasse was decorated with its huge red balls. The location is not just convenient to two subway lines, but also a really short walking distance--10 minutes to Stephansdom. There is a Spar Gourmet right across the street and many shops and restaurants near by (check out the Cafe Diglas) as the area is itself technically in the Inner Stadt (city center). But what really stands out is how eager to please the staff is. The first time I visited it was so long ago there were no smartphones, but the front desk always gave us accurate and easy directions to all locations we wanted. Clean, warm, and in a quiet corner tucked away from the main street, it is a real gem

Excellent location, quiet in the middle of noisy, the room is large, the facilities are complete, the home with butler service, there is a terrace, you can see the scenery, enjoy the cool sunset, the service is more suitable for family travel

The location is good. Everyone at the front desk and butler was very kind. Breakfast is very suitable with lettuce and young leaves, because the only green vegetable is cucumber. When I explained that I couldn't eat breakfast because I left early the next morning, I was grateful to try to provide a simple breakfast, but for me, it was too early in the morning. I heard that my friend lives in a nearby hotel. Instead of eating breakfast, he eats fruit and lunch, so if there is such a service, it would be better. I live alone, so I am glad to hear from you at the front desk. Thank you for your help.
Hotel Mercure Vienna First

The location of the hotel is great, as it’s walking distance to a lot of Viennas most visited sites and also a close distance from the subway, which can take you further out from the city centre. The room was also good, although a bit small, but no real complaint, just an observation. What brings this hotel down is the breakfast. There’s nothing done right in there. The coffee is bad (which I don’t get, because they have a fancy espresso machine up front, but they get the coffee from the back?!), the scrambled eggs are bad, the juice is bad… Everything just feels cheap and without any thought. With a better breakfast, this would be a really really good hotel. A bit of a shame.
Pension Dr. Geissler

Despite the mixed reviews here we had a great stay at the pension. We travelled as a family and had two big rooms, separated by a hallway. We had a toilet and a separate shower. Everything was spotless. Our room was clearly a renovated room. The breakfast area is dated, though breakfast itself was excellent. The location is also superb, within walking distance of all the Innenstadt sites. I would recommend this place!
