I recently returned from a trip touring several cities in Italy. In Venice we booked a room at the Ca' del Nobile hotel basically based on photos and price listed online. We wanted a place which was in the San Marco area so that we were close to Piazza San Marco. The hotel was only about a 5 minute walk to this location once we knew our way around. The streets and alleys in Venice are like negotiating a maze but there are hidden treasures behind every turn. The hotel is on a quiet street with a cafe right next door. You enter on the ground floor through a small hall with stairs to the 1st first floor, no elevator. This is a small, quiet boutique hotel, There is a desk at the top of the stairs and small lobby where the host sat and welcomed us. The staff was very polite and pleasant and check-in was quick. Our room was just to the right of the desk. We had a double bed and plenty of room compared to other smaller hotels I have stayed at in Italy. The decor was very pretty and the room and bed were very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was very pretty with a Venetian style as well and although small compared to US standards it was large enough for us and larger than other hotels I was at in Italy. The host made sure to point out that we had a mini bar in the room and that it was complimentary. This was unexpected and very appreciated so we took full advantage and it was restocked every day. I felt this hotel really wanted their guests to have the best experience possible. I looked but wasn't able to find any English channels on the tv but they have several Italian channels. Check- out was 11am, however we had a nighttime train to Vienna. The attendant at the hotel let us leave our bags in the lobby by the desk and gave us the code to get back in after hours to retrieve them which was a big help to us. I feel this property was worth the price and was very comfortable for us.
