Casa Do Mar Guest House

We have just spent 6 nights at this magical guesthouse situated just above Tofo beach. Our sea view room with private balcony was spacious and clean with comfy bed and all amenities. Our owner host, Jakkie Massyn, has an eye for detail and the establishment is impeccable. Jakkie went out of his way to attend to our needs. Spacious dining area with an honesty bar and scrumptious meals served by his in house chefs who were friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend a stay.

We were 22 guests who booked out the entire guesthouse for 2 weeks in December. This was our third time back and wow, once again what a holiday!!! The guesthouse has a great location, is walking distance from a lovely long stretch of beach. Spending the day at the beach is done with no fuss at all as a gazebo with chairs is easily set up by staff on request. Lazy days can also be enjoyed around the lovely pool with plenty of loungers and sun umbrellas. The local market, a huge variety of restaurants and shops are close by – some even walking distance. Jakkie, the owner and all the staff from the cleaner to the chef are all very friendly and helpful, professional, and very accommodating. They are always willing to help with anything and nothing is ever too much to ask. The rooms are all very clean, spacious, has aircon, beds are very comfy, has a mini fridge and a coffee nook. Most rooms have an ocean view with a huge balcony and patio set which is lovely to just relax and take the 180-degree view of the ocean in. The 5-star breakfasts were my favorite! With so many options to choose from, from cereals, pancakes, freshly cut fruit, yoghurt, freshly baked bread, and anything hot or cold one can think of to either choose from or to request. The in-house restaurant offers great food at a reasonable price. All and all, a wonderful holiday with absolutely no complaints and one that will be repeated.

I spent 4 nights in Casa do Mar and loved every minute of it. On arrival in Tofo one of local shop owners rang the hotel to tell them I had arrived and within minutes I was collected and brought to the hotel where I was warmly welcomed. I chose a sea view room which I would really recommend as it had a balcony and I was able to sit out and watch the world go by - including seeing whales from the balcony. My room was spotless - it had wifi, AC, and constant hot water. The breakfast was fresh, tasty and very generous and served on the 3rd floor balcony where you have a wonderful view of the sea (and whales) below. The outdoor communal area was a really nice area to relax by the pool either during the day or after coming back from the city in the evening. The honesty bar is also a nice touch. The location is excellent - in about one minute you are down on the beach and it takes about 5 minutes to cross the beach to get to 'Tofo centre' which, for its size, has some excellent bars/restaurants. All staff were pleasant, friendly and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. Tofo is one of those uniquely special places you come across when travelling and I would recommend Casa do Mar for any stay - business or leisure and know that I will return there when I get the chance to return to Mozambique.

I just spent a week there. They are the best host. Very clean and nice premises and room. Nice staff and very helpful. I recommend sea view. It was nice to see the whales from the comfort of the room. It's 3 min to the beach. Loved it and will pass by again.
