Got back from our first visit to Sunny Beach yesterday (19/07) so this was our first experience of a hotel in the resort. The Baikal is a beautiful hotel even before you walk in, the lobby is large and we were greeted well on reception and there was even someone who took our cases and showed us to our apartment. Our apartment was on the 5th floor on the north wing and overlooked the rear gardens but not the pool, The apartment was of a good size for the 2 of us (one having the bedroom and the other having the lounge area, but it would have been a bit overcrowded for 4 people. Was surprised that there was no kitchenette with it being an apartment but we were all inclusive so that wasnt really a problem, and there was no kettle provided either which would have been nice for the cuppa before bed or in the morning. Again not really a problem as we asked at reception and was lent one. There are no safes in the rooms so please be aware of this, for the first couple of days we left the "do not disturb" sign on the door and after that only got maid service once and that was only to empty the bin and leave a couple of fresh towels, so hardly a service, on another morning we were late leaving the room and asked the maid to return in 10 mins as we were due to leave, we were scowled at and no longer had any service. Also please be aware that if you have mobility issue there is no direct lift access the the 5th floor on the left wing, so lift to 4th floor and up a flight of stairs, again not a problem for us but worth requesting a different floor if mobility is an issue. Sadly most of the staff seemed pretty miserable and rarely cracked a smile even when spoken to. The restaurant is large and spacious and offers a great choice of food and the food (what we had of it) was always delicious, the main problems I found was the almost constant massive queues for every serving, we didnt bother with breakfast after the first morning and opted to eat out and found the same with lunchtime servings too. The evening servings are from 18:00 to 21:00 and we opted to eat around 20:15 as the queues had died down a little and there was actually somewhere to sit and eat but do not leave your half eaten food unattended (or even with your travel party) as plates are cleared regardless of food content, this happened to my travel partner as he went to get a drink from the bar and his food was gone even though I was sat at the table and he couldnt get anymore food as at 20:45 it seems the food is starting to be cleared away from the serving area. My biggest problem was actually the other guests, it seems being mainly German, Russian and Bulgarian. Now I have no problem with other nationalities but I found the other guests to be extremely rude and the restaurant was just a wall of sound with them all trying to talk over each other. No this is not a problem with the hotel, just something people need to be aware of, If you dont mind competing with others to be heard then thats f
