Unbeatable location with classic Nordic comfort
My stay at the Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel was defined by one thing above all: location. The hotel sits directly opposite Stockholm's Central Station—you step out of the Arlanda Express train and you're pretty much there. Gamla Stan (the Old Town) is a 15-minute walk, the main shopping street Drottninggatan is just 5 minutes away, and the metro (T-Centralen) is literally next door.
The rooms are clean, pleasant, and well-maintained, with comfortable beds.
Breakfast is a highlight—with a generous buffet featuring Scandinavian, continental, and American options, there is Chinese too but it’s only porridge and tofu. The service across the hotel—from front desk to restaurant staff—is friendly, welcoming, and attentive.
A few things to keep in mind: the pool and sauna require an additional fee (200 SEK) - they were not available during my stay due to renovations. The hotel is older than its sister property Radisson Blu Waterfront, so don't expect ultra-modern facilities.
Overall, if you prioritise convenience, comfort, and service over cutting-edge design, this hotel offers fantastic value in the heart of Stockholm. I'd happily stay here again.
