Love the staff here at Barceló. They have great service. The property and the beach are beautiful. We had a swim out room with a tub on the patio. We just it in the evenings for a quick dip before bed, but it wasn’t necessary during the day. The restaurants had great food. My only complaint here was the other food. The buffet was pretty mediocre quality as well as the room service selection. There was no food allowed at the pool so that was a bummer compared to other places weve stayed here. Breakfast and lunches were disappointing, but dinners were great.

This resort was amazing. We booked a swim up room. Everything was clean, well kept up and beautiful. The rooms have high ceilings so your upstairs neighbors aren’t a bother, the room is spacious as well as the bathroom. Every morning they come by to restock the mini fridge and give you clean towels. You will never go hungry or get bored with the food. The dinner reservation restaurants are good but if you can’t make it or they don’t have any openings don’t be too concerned, the buffet is great, I did notice no dinner buffet on Friday night? A lot of check outs happened so maybe there was plenty of room at the reservation restaurants. The staff! Everyone was so nice and helpful. They really just want to make you happy. We are not huge drinkers and still enjoyed every minute of our stay. They keep the beach immaculate. Every night someone is placing the chairs, 2 under each palm tree and straightening them out at the pools, omg the pools!!! Yes we were lucky to have our own off our porch but the main pools are gorgeous! And plenty of them that they do not get crowded. The sports bar has snacks and popcorn. We had access to the premium lounge as well which had drinks, food, dessert and more. We can’t wait to come back.

The resort was beautiful but here are the things I saw trouble with the service;
- the air conditioner wasn’t working at full capacity, it felt warm till about 9pm at night when it finally starting cooling.
- the room service was at a charge, and an expensive charge at that( a small round pizza cost $13 USD, and it was not a very good pizza)
- reservations for dinner was ridiculous, the night I got there, almost everything was booked for the next 4 days except the late night meals, they wouldnt except walk ins. I purposely went to one of the italian restaurants to see if I can get a table, they told me no if you didn’t have a reservations, I saw 6 open tables with no lines waiting for them, so I ask about those tables which obviously meant cancellations but they still told me no because hotel policy. This policy needs to change to allow walks in after there is a no show for a reservation.
- there is no beach or pool drink service( only at the pool bar) compare to other resorts where you have waiters and waitresses walking around asking for drink orders.
Service could be better for this resort if they change some policies

Beautiful beach and property overall. Staff plentiful but not very attentive especially at buffet, main lobby bar. Waited twenty minutes for coffee at breakfast. Not a resort to go to for pampering.
Nice pool, beach and simple relaxation. No frills whatsoever. Mediocre at best.
Need to wear a bracelet- although it houses your room key so that was nice. Have to make reservations for dinner. Upon arrival we got next to no restaurant options bc all was booked up, but there’s always the buffet. Full of very mediocre food. Great fruit and vegetarian options!
No food at the beach, could have enjoyed ice cream, bbq, specialty items, tacos or other treats while outside. Nothing…
This resort has so much potential but staff is lacking English speaking ability, training in speedy service, going extra mile etc. customer service in lobby was cold and unhelpful. Know how to say “no” very well!
Rooms are beautiful, modern and clean.
Had an ok time. Enjoyed the pool and beach. Not recommended for those who want a special experience. Great for basic relaxation.

The Barcello is so clean and easy to get around from Hotel to hotel. Everyone is so kind. When it is your first visit a little more explanation on how booking excursions or a la carte’s would have been helpful. Definitely book your pick up at the airport and drop off to the airport directly with the hotel. *******’s recommended company was not dependable. Excursions were great with MTS. The beaches are so clean and well cared for. The adults only was amazing for a kid-free vacation.

Overall, it was a great property. I stayed on the Adult Only section, which was quiet and very clean. The music was much better on the middle of the resort compared to the music bar. The Jaguar Club was quite dirty and felt like a high school party at times. I did like the room and the staff was nice, especially if you speak English. I ordered room service in Spanish and they told me that my food would get to my room in 2 hours. I hung up and called room service in English and they told me that my food would be ready in about an hour.

Amazing resort! very clean and modern. Super friendly and helpful staff. Beaches and pools were great with so much variety having access to all 6 of the resorts. Transportation within the resorts was also very good. The restaurants we made reservations for were all fantastic and the food was delicious. My only two complaints would be the buffet and the smell of our room. The buffet was abit unorganized with very long lineups for certain fresh cooked dishes. A lot of variety but the quality of the food left abit to be desired. As for the smell in the room... it was a musty smell similar to wet laundry.. the rooms were very clean and modern though. Overall it was great and would go back in a heartbeat!

An honest review based on our visit. First the good. The property is huge. You have access to I believe 5 other Barcelo adjoining properties and it’s enormous. The beach at Maya Riviera is great - no rocks and little to no sea****. The pools are beautiful. The rooms are good sized and modern. They have a hot tub on the balcony which is nice. The food is all-inclusive food, so it’s fine. Not great. Fine. The drinks are the same. The entertainment is 5/10 as compared to some other all-inclusives I’ve been to.
Opportunities for improvement:
Check in. Check in was a bit slow and they really didn’t give us much information at all. There’s not a daily paper in the room that tells you what entertainment is or with a map (which is much needed). Finding phone numbers to the spa etc, means a call to guest services. The pool is great but they NEED many more chairs. If you don’t get out by 9-9:30AM you’ll be trolling for a place to sit at the beach or pool. There needs to be more chairs. If you’re only there for 3 or 4 days you’ll have issues making reservations for any of the ala carte restaurants. Most, if you walk by, have plenty of open tables after around 7:30. That could be better. There are buses that run from resort to resort. You’ll figure this out because there is no information about it anywhere. You want to make sure the bus is running in the direction you want to go or you’ll be on a very long bus ride and walking will be faster.
