We were excited about our stay at the Grand Palladium Colonial, and we have to say: it was a truly unique experience. If you’ve ever dreamed of combining a tropical paradise with a touch of construction-site charm, this is the place for you. Positives: The resort itself is stunning! Spacious, well-maintained, and a true paradise for nature lovers. From dense mangroves teeming with wildlife to the pristine beach – absolutely impressive. The staff was mostly friendly (with one charming exception), albeit a bit distant. Perhaps they thought we came to observe them at work rather than seek assistance. The à-la-carte restaurants? Absolute oases of calm! A perfect escape from the chaos of the buffet. The culinary highlights were delightful – especially the starters, which were truly exquisite. Almost as if they’d been imported from another hotel. Negatives: And then we arrived at the reception – or, as we lovingly call it: The Gateway to Hell. Never before have we been welcomed with such condescending hospitality. Information? Not here. Being left to wander through the resort at night with luggage, a toddler, and a baby? No problem, as long as we felt like adventurers. At least, after submitting a written complaint about this ordeal, we were comforted with a standard letter – a true act of care! Oh, and half the resort is under renovation. But hey, you can always blend the sound of construction with the soothing waves outside – as long as you’re not in your room. Child-friendliness? Well, if a chessboard and two mini football goals count as a playground, then we must be spoiled. Everything else must currently be under construction. The buffet was an experience in itself. If you’re lucky, you might even find a salt shaker on your table – a touch of luxury! Unfortunately, the regional dishes had all the charm of a fast-food joint. But hey, why aim for authenticity when you could try to surpass the local Mexican takeout? Spoiler alert: They didn’t. We particularly appreciated the clear separation within the hotel. Different areas are reserved for specific guest categories. It felt like we were part of an experiment to see just how effectively people can be segregated. Criticism of this concept? Met with a smile. Last but not least: The seating at the buffet restaurant accommodates about a quarter of the guests. Long lines at the entrance, frantic scrambles at the buffet, and staff operating at a pace that would make Zen masters proud – a true symphony of chaos. Conclusion: The resort has potential, but it feels like it’s being excavated by a digger and a dump truck at night. If you love construction noise, can entertain your children with a chessboard, and enjoy feeling like a second-class guest, then this is the perfect place for you. We hope they reconsider their priorities someday – until then, we say: Thank you for the unforgettable experience in the worst five star hotel we’ve ever been to! Palladium never again.

This is quickly becoming our favorite resort! We went in October (you can read my review from then on here as well) and again in March and have already planned our third visit for this fall! We opted for a third story ocean view room this time (we had a private corner pool suite last time). We loved listening to the waves every night from our room and waking up to the sunrise every morning. The room was very similar to the last one we had. Very modern, marble bathroom etc but this room had a jetted soaking tub. We requested building 67 so we could be close to the infinity pool and Helios restaurant. From the moment you arrive you are treated like family. Israel, the bellboy captain, is always prepared with a warm welcome and Kevin at the front desk is always a wonderful familiar face to see! Alberto, Sergio and Romeo are amazing golf cart drivers! They always get you where you need to go with a smile and a warm greeting! They have become our friends and we look forward to seeing them again soon! All of the butlers are excellent as well. Rafael and Mariana took great care of us! If there is anything at all you need, don’t hesitate to ask your butler. The food and drinks here are excellent. There are top shelf options included such as crown royal, captain Morgan, grey goose etc. David, Jonathan and Mayra made sure our cups were never empty :) Daniel at La Jarra (trs only beach bar) was a treat! We enjoyed hanging out there with him. He works very hard keeping all the trs guests happy! Alfredo at La Terraza (the “quiet” pool) made us some special custom drinks that were amazing! We ate breakfast every day at Helios (capricho wasn’t open) and often times lunch as well. My husband even started making up breakfast sandwiches for himself lol and they made them for him every day! Martha and Wendy made breakfasts exceptional! They even brought us a sweet goodbye dessert plate :) Ivonne is an amazing hostess and has become someone that we feel is our friend and we look forward to seeing her again soon! Our favorite dinner spots are Tentazione and La Boheme. We like sitting in the special booth there! We tried Sumptuori (hibachi) this trip and enjoyed it as well. The evening entertainment here is the BEST that we’ve encountered since Covid restrictions affected the resorts. The chic show is running on a smaller scale and is in the terrace bar, full moon. The burlesque show is fabulous and should not be missed! We also enjoyed ****** night! Be prepared to make new friends here on a nightly basis! It’s so much fun! Make sure to check out Las Rocas, the salt water pool. Bring your snorkel gear and water shoes! We also enjoyed a round of putput golf at the activities center! Insider tip: take an early morning walk before it gets hot out. Grab a latte (with amaretto lol) from the lobby bar and head out. Walk all over. Discover the cenote and the flamingo area. Walk all the way to the trs only beach. This will help you familiarize yourself with th

The good- staff seems to clean it. Pool nice. The not so good- cold showers, food, noise level from highway. Dates of visit- 12/25-12/30. They don’t have blankets on the bed, only sheets and when I asked for a blanket they said they don’t have them. They didn’t have enough beach towels for our family any day we were there and you are expected to keep the same sandy wet towel for your entire stay. We were told to hang them up to dry. I cut my foot on accident and asked for a bandaid and they didn’t even have one. They have no hot water. I got three rooms and none of had hot water. They told me to let the water run for about 20 minutes each time, but in never got beyond warm and wasted immense amounts of water. The room was cute. The bed not comfortable. The main thing I didn’t like was the air conditioner is either on or off. It doesn’t have like a normal setting that runs and shuts off and then turns on. It’s either on or off, running all night and condensing dripping into a puddle on the night stand and bed area. It is close to xplor which is why I chose it, but if you want to go to town the taxi is spotty at best. It kinda sits alone in the side of the road. I felt safe there and allowed my teen kids to get two rooms and didn’t worry about their safety, but overall, I wouldn’t recommend due to no hot water, blankets, towels, and terrible food.

Outstanding
GGuest UserOur stay was beautiful, I will not deny that. However it was not without a few letdowns. I am a woman who is all about a pool and was so excited to swim in the absolutely gorgeous pool I saw in all the photos online. I visited the week of Jan 1- Jan 7th and the weather was quite warm about 75 degrees every day. HOWEVER, the pool was absolutely FREEZING to the point where I was shivering being in it. Felt like an ICE BATH :( It was not enjoyable and with this being a secluded/ all inclusive hotel there weren't very much other forms of entertainment during the day except for the pool and the beach (the water was warm at the beach). It was so disappointing. I called the front desk to ask if anything could be done but they stated was no pool heater/temperature adjuster. We paid about 4 grand total for this trip and to be completely honest were only able to enjoy the pool once. My next complaint comes to the beach. We went to the beach which gets pretty bus. There was a day where every single chair was full and two of the hotel cabanas were being taken over by random street vendors - taking away two spots for the guests from the 100% packed beach area. These guys were NOT a part of the hotel and are the vendors who go around trying to sell cigars, etc. I watched the staff pass by them multiple times and say nothing while ACTUAL GUESTS had nowhere to lounge by the beach. That was very disappointing as these guys were laughing loudly, staring at guests, and did not move as people walked by looking for chairs. Other than that I will admit that the food was great, the staff was super nice, the hotel grounds were IMPECCABLE, the rooms were nice, everything else was quite lovely. But for the reasons listed I will not be staying at this all inclusive again, although you can still make the most of it and have a lovely experience overall. I'd recommend a stay if you're not going for the main reason of enjoying the pool and the beach.
EEzzouMy experience was not very positive, mainly because of the staff at the reception desk,
They charged me twice for my stay even though I showed them that I already paid online, they insisted that I pay again, before accessing the room and still didn’t receive the refund for that second paiement
The room itself is really beautiful , clean and confortable !
They charged us for using some amenities, even though it was in open access and no notice indicated that this was a paying service,
The breakfast is underwhelming to say the least,
The place is close to the parks of Xplore and Xcaret you can either choose to go by walking (30 min) or take a taxi that will cost you 20 dollars for 7 min
But it’s pretty far from the city Center of Playa del Carmen, you will need to take a taxi, it will cost at least 20 dollars, or you could walk for 40 min
This hotel has a very high potentiel, if the reception desk staff would be friendlier, and more helpful, and if they could make a small improvement on the breakfast
NNikkilaoshiLocation is great. Checkin was easy. Rooms are spacious with a little kitchenette (stove cooktop & microwave) but there’s no dishes or utensils to cook. Decent coffee/tea setup. Nice robes. Medium sized fridge with freezer section. City view rooms do not have balconies and face street with view of ice cream shop and laundromat. Pool is warm & pool towels available. 1 block from the busy street and 2 blocks from beach. There’s a bar with a pool table, foosball, and darts where happy hour was offered for an hour daily. BREAKFAST WAS NOT WORTH WAKING EARLY FOR. Very limited options and was cold. Also after checking our reservation at the breakfast restaurant they were insisting we pay for it when we paid for it with the reservation. Also felt the breakfast staff were a bit rude when I tried asking for details on the station others were lining up for reminding me of things that were included or not.
We went with two other couples to the resort in Dec 2023 (yes I’m a tad late with this review). I have to say, this is one of the better resorts I have been to! The food was excellent 10/10. Lots of options and lots of selections. You have to line up at 8 am outside of the main buffet to reserve your dinners for the same night (not a big deal). We tried Sakura for lunch (amazing), Italian for dinner (amazing), steakhouse was a good experience for myself but the rest of my group didn’t like their food much. Blue Moon was great for breakfast and Mike’s was a daily visit for coffee and pastries. The restaurant at the beach had great food too. The staff were friendly and kind. Room was clean with no issues. The beach was not much of a beach and lots of seaweed. I didn’t mind it though, wouldn’t deter me from going back. The entertainment was 10/10. There was always some activity going on somewhere! I loved it here and would definitely come back!
YYOUFANGThe hotel does not have a breakfast. It is convenient to have supermarkets and restaurants in the surroundings. There is parking lot. It is close to the sea. It is convenient to swim with a pool. There are many specialties by the sea, and many small gift shops.
GGuest UserThe hotel and parks are great, lot of fun, food and entertainment. No complaints there. While I was there they offered my some extra activities for free, if I agreed to a 45min presentation on the membership they offer, it turns out to be 3 or 4 hours long. So I really like the place so I signed up for the membership, I paid half up front and I had about a month and a half to pay the rest if I wanted a 5% discount, if not I had to do monthly payments. So time comes to pay the other half. So people that work at the hotel or whoever has access to the members personal information, they take it and pretend to be part of the hotel and they offer you a better discount. That’s how I and many others were scammed. I contacted the hotel and for some reason I was connected to the executive of reservations not the membership department. Which makes no sense to me. I just want people to be aware of the scam that's going if you decide to become a member.
I took my extended family to Playa del Carmen for a fun week. I booked 4 separate 2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms suites at Anah Suites but were given 3 suites at Anah Downtown and 1 suite at Anah La Playa across the street. They were overbooked and our concierge, Daniel Jimenez, tried to accommodate us by offering to move us to the La Quinta by Anah on 5th Avenue & 40th, but we realized that the current location was actually the best since it was close to everything. Daniel was really accommodating and the staffs were really nice! The suites were offered at a good price for the money, however, it is close to a busy street. I let the rest of my family stay at the suites at Anah Downtown and we stayed in the suite at La Playa across the street. Our room was clean but one of the toilet wasn't flushing in 1 bathroom and the shower barely worked in the other bathroom. This was annoying at first, but wasn't a big deal since we spent most of our time outdoors doing activities. Be warned that nearby streets are constantly busy (noise all day and all night) and for our trip, the other guests were coming home at 3:00AM in the morning and making a lot of noise. Playa del Carmen is very close to Xcaret, Xplor, Xel-ha, Tulum and a lot of cenotes that were really fun to swim in. We will definitely do this again soon.
MMendezIn general I had a great time, good location, different theme in rooms, the treatment of people at the reception is very good, the facilities need maintenance and a little investment, they look somewhat neglected. Breakfast is good but very late.
GGuest UserThe hotel is an older hotel. The location is great for access to the beach and walk around 5th Ave. The bartenders and the travel shop/scuba shop were great the hotel maintenance and front desk staff were not the best. We did have issues with our rooms and they were fixed eventually except the king room
that we booked was not available and we had to share a double bed. Iit’s an older hotel with musty smells and stuck drawers. The pool closed early on a Saturday night (8pm) but the mariachi/karaoke can play until 11pm and the noise will carry into the room. The kelp on the beach is filled with sand fleas and we came home with over 100 sand flea bites between the 5 of us. The buffet was ok but not worth $45 per day per person.
GGuest UserIt is located in the most central location in the Praya del Carmen area. The beach is close, the bus is close, and the supermarket is close. If you are planning to travel to this area.
There is no reason not to choose this hostel.
step. I like to read books quietly. This hotel is not suitable for people with insomnia.
The hotel is beautiful. The inner rooms are relatively quiet.
