I returned to the Grand Imperial Hotel for my fourth or fifth stay when in Silverton recently. For about $170, the hotel is an excellent value given the absurd rates charged by the more fashion Wyman at the other end of the main street. I did complain to the front desk about the description of my room. I booked a mountain view room on the third floor. Calling the room a mountain view is a little misleading. It's really a downtown view with one small side window that has a semi-obstructed mountain view. A more accurate description would be "partial mountain view." That aside, my room was clean, well-appointed and very comfortable. I wish they would improve the pillows. The pillows were horrible. Just really poor quality and not comfortable. The pillowcases were also mismatched. Another small improvement would be adding a power ***** with additional electrical and USB outlets as there is literally no place to plug in more than one device. Things to keep in mind if you stay here: 1) The front desk isn't staffed 24/7. 2) They are very strict about 11 am check-outs and 3 pm check-ins. You aren't going to get a late check-out. 3) There is no elevator. So you probably don't want to stay here if you have mobility issues. There is no bellman or porter to assist guests with luggage up and down the stairs. 4) There is no restaurant for breakfast. They offer a limited room service menu for breakfast from the attached coffee shop. Think pastries, sandwiches and coffee. That's it. If you want eggs, good luck because when I stayed there wasn't a single restaurant in Silverton that was open for breakfast.
