Spacious Hotel. Room wasn't to standard, Bins hadn't been changed by housekeeping, as well as hairs within bedding. Dusty floors and carpets which had apparently been deep cleaned the week prior. Bed Extremely uncomfortable as made up of 2 single springed matresses.

First the good stuff - great location, nice, friendly staff & clean room. But ………. We were given a ground floor room which was right next to the beer garden and when I say next to I mean only our window was between us and the drinkers on the same level. To get any privacy we had to close our window, pull the curtains & put the light on! Unfortunate for a hot afternoon in August 🥵 Not great unfortunately, I think the drinkers were as embarrassed as us when they realised we were staying in this room. Also our room wasn’t serviced, I have no issue with making my own bed but for the price I shouldn’t have to 😡

Awful nights sleep! People talking really loud outside reception early hours of the morning, weren’t told to be quiet at all by staff. Fire alarm went off firstly at 2:38am! No staff to be seen in evacuation point, other guests also wondering what’s going on. Fire door wedged open with fire extinguisher. Alarm went off for a second time; no reassurance from staff. Could smell paint fumes very strongly. Told this morning when complained to reception that the workers were decorating through the night and the fumes and dust set the alarms off.

The staff were amazing and Friendly and helpful the lady behind the bar made the best cocktails and with a big smile the gentleman on was manning the bar and reception he was polite funny and informative, we had the best night. The rooms were comfy and clean and tidy. We had our evening meal there to which was so tasty. Would defo recommend, we were there 10/1/25

The price is very high, and the hotel I set in front of, the world is different, the room is large, clean, bright, sanitary products look comfortable, the hotel is very characteristic, old-fashioned British architecture, more than 400 nights. Very worth booking.

Shrewsbury night away for Half Marathon. Very central to all shops cafes and bars. Parking at the NCP car park at Wyle cop for 24hrs is reasonably priced. Short walk up hill to the Bull Inn. Approx 10 mins. Greeted by staff who were more than helpful. Warned us that there would be a live band but should be quite by midnight. Mmmmm, bit flexible there but wasn't too fussed. Could still here the bar at 01.00am guests coming in at 03.00 and an early wake up call with a fire alarm at 06.15 was just the ticket. Nonetheless the room (1) four poster bed was very comfy, clean and tidy. Bathroom a bit tired but it's fine. Breakfast in the morning spot on. All in all a comfy night away. Yes it would be nice to have prior warning on booking sites that live music and late bar at the weekend, but what do you expect??? Sleeping above a lively, popular pub. If you want travel lodge or Premier Inn type place then go there? This is a nice place but you have to be open to reality.
