I booked the hotel to spend the New Year’s Eve. We arrived there at 12:00 am to make check in because it’s normal in China to make early check in. The reception attendant said that the room was not ready, we needed to wait until 14:00. Ok, we came back at 14:10. Waited in a long line to make check in. In the end the receptionist said that the room was still not ready, asked us to wait more 30 minutes. At 15:00 we were able to enter the room. Seems like the reason for this problem was over booking, but the hotel is a 5 star hotel, I expected a better trea**ent. They didn’t offer anything to apologize. Apart of it, the room is good, nice view.

Could see the hotel's basically remants of some classy types in the past (the building and bathroom etc.) but not sure re value for money/friendlieness, was given a room on the first floor (cathay gardens, or the low south building) with view completely blocked by walls. Staff in reception/cafeteria all very businesslike. To be fair it might have felt a harsh contrast coz visited after disneyland. Still, would try tower or other nearby hotels if visiting shanghai next time

Overall, it is an excellent hotel. The location is extremely convenient, right at Xintiandi. The hotel is not brand new, but very well maintained. Two points I would like to make: 1. if you book your trip through third party, you cannot use your stay toward your frequent stay points (not a huge deal). 2. they do not have room to fit our family of 4. We need to reserve two rooms. This is because of the room type, not really anything to do with the hotel itself.

Selected the hotel as a trip.com diamond member and was offered to be given the benefit of accessing the hotel lounge which turned out to be a disappointment as the so called happy hour had nothing much except a couple of plates of snacks and some drinks. The lounge service is pretty ordinary, staff there were kind of so bored standing round. This is a total gimmick from both the hotel and Trip.com . However, the breakfast was good with a nice range of selections and decent service. Overall, the hotel amenities are starting to look dated and tired and the pool was tiny with the surrounding facilities look also a bit shabby. The 5 star status remain to be challenged.

Our stay was pleasant and most of the staff were very helpful & friendly. They will greet us whenever we walked pass. Too bad we did not have the chance to enjoy the facilities and dine in the hotel. One feedback I had was during our check-in day on 28 Feb 2024. We were not sure if we had arrived at the right hotel as we do not know the hotel's Chinese name. It was raining and I wanted to alight & make a quick check with an older porter at the hotel entrance/drop-off point. When I asked the older porter ”这里是不是 Okura Garden Hotel?” He just brushed me aside and said ”不知道!”. In the end I had to dashed into the hotel lobby and reconfirmed with the reception on duty. Understand that English may not be a common language for the hotel staff especially the older ones. But won't it make a great difference if the staff at least knows the English name of the hotel that they are working for?

This hotel was a great find! This was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in while living in Asia. Walking distance between two subway stations and in an area with a large array of restaurants and shops, the location is great. The staff was welcoming and spoke English. Although they follow city laws and don’t put some of the amenities in rooms any more, they are available for taking in the lobby. Unfortunately, there was hair on the floor and towels, thus the reason for the low score in cleanliness. I would definitely recommend the hotel and will stay here again next time I’m in Shanghai.

The hotel looked old from the entrance and lobby but the room we stayed is not aging. Believed it has been recently renovated with large bathroom and automated wash-let. Room size is more than enough for family of 4 using 2 double beds. Pretty comfortable so we did extent our stay for another night there. We loved the location on Huaihai Road, only 200m to South Shanxi station and about 100m to Middle Huaihai station and very walkable to xintiandi / French concession area.

I came on a business trip. The hotel is conveniently located near the subway station. It takes only a few minutes to walk there. It is very convenient for shopping and eating. The room looked old, and there was no elevator. It was troublesome to walk up the stairs if you have difficulty walking. The hygiene was not very good. I didn't dare to use the kettle in the room. I asked the waiter to change it, but I still didn't dare to use it. I forgot to take a photo of the one I changed. When I booked the breakfast, I saw two breakfasts, but I was told that they were two pan-fried breakfast rolls from the next door, worth 18 yuan per person. I had to pay for the extra food. I originally booked two nights, but I canceled one night. The overall experience was not good and I was not satisfied.

I have stayed at Youxi Movie Hotel at 242 Ju Lu Road, Shanghai, China about three and half weeks from 13th November to 5th December. I had a wonderful time there. It located at the central Shanghai and is close to many entertainment centres and tourist attractions and shopping centra. The staffs at Youxi Movie Hotel were very helpful and friendly and the service is excellent. It was very surprise to me that my room is very quiet at night and you can watch a film on the wall while you are in the bed. My room is quite big so once I had my friends came over to watch the movie and chatter. And this hotel is quite new and the my room is very clean too.

InterContinental being my favorite hotel, I always look for one wherever I go. I was in Shanghai for a short stay and I wanted it to be relaxing and elegant so… didn’t have to think too much about it. You guys never disappoint me. First of all, just by walking around th hotel you get a free history lesson about Shanghai from decades ago. Beautiful paintings on the wall, gorgeous architecture, y’all the bathtub in my room was… incredible. It made me forgive you for not having the spa working on that day. There’s this quiet room you can go to read a book or just enjoy the pictures of important events, people or movies. The food is good! I spent my morning walking around the beautiful garden. My room had a great view and a balcony, thanks to the gentleman who made my checkin. I tend to get the highest floor and he was super nice in getting a really good room for me when I explained what I wanted. On the way to my room I met this elegant butler who easily told me how to get to my room like he had the hotel map memorized in his head and gave me this Downton Abbey vibes, you know what I mean?! Amazing!!! Love it ❤️

It is my first choice of homestay next time I come to Shanghai Located in Lane 19, Yongjia Road, the traffic is very convenient, there are places such as Ruijin Hospital in a few steps, and the scenery is also very good. We went to rest after playing Disney. When we opened the door, we fell in love with this small room. The house is small but the floor height is very high. The space is also very reasonable. Our three good friends sleep comfortably and the room is very clean. It is a relatively cost-effective homestay. It is an old house, but the aunt is very clean and the transportation is very convenient. It is the bus stop when you go out. The Harbin pastry shop is next door. It is a few steps away from the convenience store and the subway station. There are several shopping malls nearby that you can go shopping if you need it. If necessary, you can search for Hualian Supermarket on the map, scan the code and ride a bicycle to the residential area there, some small restaurants, fruit shops and cheap supermarkets. The landlord is also very caring and communicates well.

I was positively surprised by this hotel. I stayed here for two nights during my visit to Shanghai over a weekend. The location is absolutely perfect in the heart of Shanghai, the rooms have a good size with large bathrooms (at least my room did). Cleanliness level was also very high. I have nothing negative to say about my stay here and I would definitely consider to book this hotel again in the future. Check-in procedure for foreign travelers is also smooth.
