Hotel Da Luz

El hotel estaba muy bien ubicado. El personal ha sido muy amable y siempre dispuesto ayudarte. La comida estaba bien. Y la limpieza fue excelente.

A nice family hotel with very friendly staff. It is located on the edge of the center of Santa Maria and near the sea. Everything is reachable within a 5-minute walk. Breakfast was well prepared, plenty of choice. Dinner menu is not very extensive, more for a quick bite. Food is tasty! Our room (no. 200) was very spacious and had a mega balcony. Bathroom was a bit less, sewage smell. Beds are hard and are comfortable. Air conditioning worked well and the WiFi was no complaints.

Never had such a negative experience with a hotel I came to this island alone to visit a friend. After checking in I went to my room at that moment my friend arrived and waited for me. In the evening he came to my room to chill. He stayed here for 30/60 minutes, after which he went to his apartment. In the morning after my cold shower (no hot water) we met again during my breakfast, where my friend had a coffee and a piece of fruit. After my breakfast I wanted to book 2 more nights. The receptionist said that there was still an outstanding bill, it was a serious amount almost half of what I had paid at the reception the day before. I was very shocked and asked why I had to pay so much. She told me that my friend had slept at my place. To which I said: he did not sleep at my place and please check the cameras, so that they could see that he had only stayed for a short while the previous evening, they refused. I told them that I do not accept such practices and that I do not want to stay here for 2 extra nights. I immediately went to my room and packed my luggage. When I wanted to go outside, the police were suddenly there. They demanded that I pay 20 euros in cash, I said that I was not going to pay this! Whereupon the police officer said then we will take you to the police station, I answered yes that is fine! At that moment my friend came in and he did pay those 20 euros. The entire trip on Sal was one of the white man who has to pay more than the black man. Where the white man is constantly harassed for money where children want to rob us...
