It feels like a country hotel located in a quiet place. When it gets late at night, the hotel doors are locked until dawn, which seems perfect for older travelers who are concerned about security. The room is relatively small, but it is equipped with fluorescent lights to make it easy to work quietly. You can have a light buffet meal in the morning, but since I don't like greasy food, I ate a fried egg, a sausage, yogurt, tangerines (high in sugar), and a slice of bread. I also ordered and drank black coffee for free. The hotel staff are friendly, but they don't speak English well. When I checked out to take the 6 o'clock high-speed train to Tashkent, I was surprised to be asked for a tourist tax of $4 per day or $8 for both days. I thought I would be late for the train, so I paid for it and got on the train, then told the tour guide to go there and collect the money since I felt like I was being ripped off. Looking at the KakaoTalk message the tour guide sent later, it seems that Samarkand really collects a tourist tax. It would be good to know that those staying in Samarkand will have to pay an additional $4 per day.

We stayed in four hotels during our time in Uzbekistan. I took an instant dislike to this place which was probably rather unfair of me, but surely they could have come up with a less pretentious name. The place was clean, but the room was let down by the availability of power sockets. Oh – there were loads. But none in any sensible place. Behind units, on the floor behind the beds… an issue I discussed with other guests all of whom felt the same. The food wasn’t bad, but the beer was rather overpriced; over fifty per cent more than the rate charges in other restaurants. And I feel I should whinge about the coffee machine in the dining area which wasn't really up to the demand. If you are providing breakfast for dozens of people you really can’t use the sort of machine that people use at home. Taking over a minute per cup as the queue grows and grows simply isn’t on.

Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice. This is a fairly small hotel so coffee was made to order. There is a small rooftop pool but only a couple of beds. The middle atrium was nice to relax in if you have a spare few hours. There a couple of mini markets fairly close by. A larger shopping mall is about 10 mins walk but didn’t open until 10.30. There is also a ‘pub street’ similar distance but we didn’t hear about it until we were leaving. We enjoyed our stay

Hotel is well located in a quiet and pretty part of town, breakfast is decent, room spacious and clean and although small, it does have a pool. What makes such a difference though is that every member of the hotel staff was so friendly and welcoming. A very good choice.

we really enjoyed our short stay in this hotel. Staff was great (really enjoyed Umar at the front desk...but others were also great). Our room was nice and breakfast was really good. Location was also quite good and central to the city. I'd definitely plan to stay here again if traveling through Samarkand.

Nice local styled hotel, a bit old fashioned, with a sister hotel with the same name opposite. It has three levels with no lift. There is an indoor courtyard that some of the rooms face into. The rooms are a reasonable size with a couple of chairs. As a single I had a double bed. The bathroom has a walk in shower with no bath. There is good water pressure & plenty of hot water. There is Airconditioning in each room. There is a pool on the top floor and a sauna in the basement. The TV has a couple of English speaking news channels. There is free wifi which is stable but a little slow. Breakfast was included which had a good choice of hot & cold dishes. The staff are friendly and helpful. It would be a long walk to downtown but taxis are cheap. Nothing grand but all up a pleasant stay.

This is a wonderful hotel! Very clean, in the room you will find everything you need: coffee, tea, sugar, water. You have a bathrobe and the whole set of hotel cosmetics in the bathroom. Even though I stayed on the 2nd floor, the room is spacious and bright. Breakfast is good and can be served in the inner courtyard which is an oasis of beauty. The staff is very friendly and smiling! You feel like a family! I recommend this hotel!

Busy tour group hotel that was much less than expected in many ways Despite us being told you could walk to town It’s quite a way the centre of town and you will need taxis everywhere, esp if it is hot The rooms are comfortable but we were given an inside room with windows opening into the enclosed inner atrium so that it was very dark and the noise from the bus tour group guests talking in the atrium reverberated around and it was very loud. Others had rooms facing the outside which had more light but our friends, at least, were blighted with heavy cigarette smoke from the adjacent rooms despite them all being no smoking. The advertised restaurant was closed for guests except for the nights German tour groups were catered for. We other guests have to eat elsewhere. Fortunately two good ones were nearby and easy to walk to Breakfast is a disaster on tour group days ( most days) with food not replaced and very sparse offerings if you arrive after the gannets at about 8.15. Instant coffee only unlike the other, cheaper, hotels we stayed in on the trip. No ATM or money change , as advertised, but ATMs nearby The swimming pool is freezing cold and the sauna needs to be booked the day before do it can be heated up All in all a big disappointment for us
