Excellent week at Le Sherpa. Very good location. Ski out down to a choice of lifts. Ski back by turning left off Plein sud blue run. Short walk to the town. Friendly helpful and welcoming staff. Room was fine, comfortable, very clean and a reasonable size with good storage. Wi-fi was good. Food and service was very good, substantial breakfast and lovely dinner with plenty of choices. Great desserts and cheese selection. Outdoor terrace was a real sunspot, with outdoor sauna and ice cold tub for the brave. Crepes were available. Relaxation centre included jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Boot room was good. No swimming pool. Relaxing bar area, with books & games. The midday checkout time was useful given our evening flight.

Fantastic hotel and amazing staff. Rooms are good with very comfortable beds. The room tended to get hot so had the doors open often. The lounge/bar is lovely with lots of seating, open fire and a big cupboard full of games. Spa area was nice although the outside sauna wasn’t very warm. More novelty than functional. Meals were all good. We have a vegetarian in our family which was not a problem as vegetarian option available every evening. There is a lot of cheese in the vegetarian meals though. Service was always friendly and prompt. Ski in/out was good although the little run off the main run back to the hotel was quite narrow and steep. A short walk from the hotel up to join the main blue piste where you can ski to various lifts. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and if I return to Val Thorens I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel, very friendly and cosy. Food was great and varied and full credit to the restaurant staff, superb service. Great location for skiing and if you don’t make it to the ski in to the hotel - there is a free shuttle bus from town every 20 mins. Would really have appreciated tea and coffee making facilities in the room after a shower and days skiing. Shower head was tiny so didn’t make for a great shower. But otherwise, room did the job nicely. We also used the spa each day, which was much appreciated although neither the jacuzzi or the outside sauna are warm enough. Lovely hotel though and would recommend

This was our second time at Le Sherpa and I'm sure we will be back for a third! The hotel is very convinient for skiing (perhaps slightly more ski in than ski out due to the very short walk to the slope just above the hotel) and also for exploring the nearby bars. The food is fantastic and wine/bar list also quite extensive with a good range of prices. The dinner service can take a bit of time some days as it is quite rightly very popular, but for five amazing courses this is nothing different from what you would want or expect at a nice restaurant. You get choices for mains and starters and everything is fresh and very good quality. The desert buffet and cheese trolley I'm not sure can be topped either! We enjoyed spending time on the terrace after skiing where the service was always very prompt and the bar is very cosy. Only slight donwsides are the rooms can get hot so we would usually have the door open, which if you are on the front of the hotel can be sometimes noisy at night with people returning from the nearby bars. The boot room can also be snug, but there are benches outside which were much easier.

The best vacation of my life! To provide context: I'm a skier. I'd only ever had experiences in North America. I'd always wanted to have a ski holiday in the Alps. After some research, I picked Le Trois Vallees, narrowed it down to the village of Val Thorens, and finally picked Le Sherpa as the place to stay. Val Thorens seemed to have a wide range of accommodations, from budget, to uber luxe places like Hôtel Le Val Thorens. Price-wise, Le Sherpa was solidly in the middle. Value, charm, and comfort wise, the absolute best. For those coming from North America, I'd say you would not be able to find a single place back home that compares to the value and quality for slope-side hotels. To start, the staff are all incredible helpful, "down to earth", kind, and fun. My interaction started before I even arrived. I opted to fly roundtrip from Paris and take the TGV (to Moûtiers-Salins-Brides-les-Bains station), the Altibus (10 euros and about 90 minutes) from Moutiers to Val Thorens (Places Arolles, near the recreation center), and finally, a free shuttle that dropped me off about a 2 minute walk to the hotel. Since this was my first time in all of France, I had some questions about this multi-step journey. I emailed the hotel and got several thoughtful and very helpful responses from Julie + others. I arrived at the hotel late, around 9pm, and they were able to accommodate me at the restaurant, despite not having a reservation. The meal was amazing and a great value. I received soup, an appetizer, a main plate, a cheese cart service, and a dessert buffet. If you do dinners a la carte, it's 45 euros per dinner. Alternatively, you can get a 10 euro discount if you agree to have dinner for the entirely of your stay (which is usually 1 week, as you can't really book single nights during the high ski season). It was an easy decision, so I got all of the above for 35 euros nightly, an incredible deal for literally the TASTIEST food. Luckily, they post the menu on their Instagram story daily; I’m thinking about attempting to reproduce some of the recipes, lol. My room was something to write home about. The theme is definitely traditional alpine vibes, almost kitschy, but in a good way. I loved it! There are little details everywhere, like hearts carved into the woodwork and curtains with leaping reindeer!I paid a nominal amount to upgrade to a "Junior suite". The room was perfect for a week's stay. It's basically a small living area, with a couch (turns into a bed if needed), and a (pretty tight) staircase that leads up to a lofted bedroom. I slept SO well in this room. It was very quiet and I never really heard any noise from neither the hallways nor the adjacent rooms. Note: I'm a rather small man. I'm 5'8 and 140 pounds, so the room suited me well. However, if you are taller, you might have some problems. The shower head for example wasn't too far away from my head, and the steepness of the stairs might be an issue for some people. The house keeper

We stayed here for a fabulous week away in January 2024. We paid extra for a balcony and mountain view room and couldn't really fault it. The staff are so friendly and always have a smile for you which is refreshing and lovely. The boot room is a bit of a squeeze but most are so again no complaints. I have left some feedback with the hotel on the evening meal service. The food is faultless but the wait for it on some nights was too long. I must say though that as soon as I mentioned how long we had waited for a starter it was immediately rectified and sorted out. On the whole we loved staying at the Sherpa and have already booked for next year.

The people who work here are the best we have encountered in a ski hotel. They anticipate your every need. From the moment we walked through the door, we were welcomed with real smiles, warmth and professionalism. Reception are knowledgeable and are instantly available to help you. The bar staff are so friendly, funny and are very quick to serve you and bring extra treats with drinks. The restaurant staff are brilliant. We didn’t have to wait for anything. You can tell they all like working together and do it with a smile. The hotel is like a large cosy chalet. The lounge with the open fire and large window with views of the mountains is very nice to sit in. The spa isn’t the largest but to have a steam, sauna and hot tub in a 3 star hotel is so nice after a days skiing. The outside sauna is very good fun to use. You are quickly out on the slopes in the morning and getting back to the hotel is easy via a blue run. The rooms are a little tired and could do with a bit of TLC but they are comfortable and kept very clean. We had a Mountain View room and it was large and the views were lovely. Thank you to all at the Le Sherpa. You work so hard to make your guests happy.

My stay at Le Sherpa has been fantastic. I have not been the easiest of guests this week but they have always treated me with respect and nothing has been too much trouble. I would especially like to thank Virginie, the hotel manager. She is excellent and best practice in hotel management. Thank you Virginie. I am sorry to have caused some issues this week but you dealt with them perfectly. Best wishes you and all your staff.

The hotel has lots of good points; the staff, location and food. It's also clean, rustic and cozy but we felt let down in the restaurant. Our table at dinner was not the best and a tight squeeze for us but most other guests were fine. We were eventually moved to another table which was better but then moved back again the following night. During dinner one evening we waited ages to be served. One couple got so fed up with waiting and left! There is a good choice of desserts but if you are on a later sitting like us at 8pm, there may not be much left which was disappointing. I gave feedback to reception on check out. Hopefully the issues in the restaurant will be ironed out and we would stay here again as there are certainly more positives than negatives.
