A Corte

Hotel Royal Caserta

I chose this hotel for my two-night stay due to its close proximity to the train station. A big and bright lobby was very welcoming upon my arrival. Those with luggage will want to know that there are several steps to navigate at the entrance. I was in Caserta to tour the royal palace and was delighted to find it was conveniently located right around the corner from the hotel. My room was a small double, a big mix of old and new furnishings. I'd guess it was in the middle of being renovated. The bathroom fixtures, lighting electronics, TV, bed and some wall finishings had all been upgraded recently but some other of the wall finishings were well-worn and in desperate need of being replaced. An honor bar was provided and left little room for personal items in the mini-frig. A hot breakfast buffet was included in the room rate, but the scrambled eggs were ice cold both mornings I was there...no joke. Thankfully the meat selection was suitably hot. The front desk provided luggage storage for two hours on my departure day but instead of locking them up in the storage room with other guests' luggage, they pulled them aside in the lobby area without direct supervision. I had a brief moment of panic when I went to retrieve them but the staff on duty couldn't find them. I spotted them sitting in the lobby area accessible to anyone who wanted to take them. None of the downsides for this hotel are insurmountable so I would definitely stay here again should I travel to Caserta in the future.
Grand Hotel Vanvitelli

The Vanvitelli is a very nice hotel.... The structure is an old house with a large courtyard which was converted into a lounge with cover over the 4th floor with a huge crown light hanging in the middle. The rooms are spacious and clean....
Hotel dei Cavalieri Caserta - la Reggia

We gave this hotel one star, and that was for housekeeping because they were great! We had a south facing room which faced the square. Because of the transition in seasons, the air conditioning was not yet operational. When we asked about possibly getting a fan for our room the woman at the front desk laughed at us. Saying it wasn’t hot for them. (the hotels we’ve stayed at subsequent to this had no problem with offering and supplying us with a fan) This left us no choice, but to leave the windows open at night and being on the square it was very noisy at night. Breakfast is served until 10 AM, we generally arrived at about 9:15 AM, when we asked about items that were empty such as bread, rolls, or ham and cheese we were told there was no more. We made the mistake of having dinner at the hotel restaurant, my husband ordered a steak medium rare, and it was served well done and charred.. All in all a bad experience. We spent five nights at this hotel, it was five nights too many!!
