Hotel Grande Rio

The good things, friendly and helpful staff, clean room. The awful: We got a disabled room, not sure why, but it meant the bathroom was a wet room, so floor was always wet. The toilet was too high, the sink too low! The light came on automatically, but the timer was set for 4 seconds only, even when showering it kept going off and on. During the night it would go on with the extraction fan for no reason. We did complain and were told an engineer would correct it…..never did! The room and bed were very small, no storage at all, we had a kettle and cups, but no Coffee or Tea, no spoon but there was a knife! I don’t know how you would ever get a wheelchair up the three steps into the hotel, from the narrow street? The hotel was locked morning and early evening, it was only because another guest was there, we knew about the side gate entrance. Car parking, was a tatty, near derelict private garage across the street. WiFi was poor, kept going off!
Casual Raízes Porto

CP value is very high at Samsung level Newly opened hotel 24h service desk attitude is kind and friendly Facilities are very new The hotel has 6 floors (-2, -1, G, 1, 2, 3) There is a lift, no need to bring your own luggage Free wifi is smooth My hotel room is very quiet at night. No car/plane/person sound You can open the windows and doors from the terrace, but you can't walk out. The interior is a space-like white wall with green turf There is enough space in the room Booked twin room with location to separate two single beds Open wardrobe with 6 coats There is a refrigerator/book desk/kettle/jiawan, etc. The bedside spotlight is too strong but not used Sit in the toilet The shower room can accommodate two people Handheld flower/head shower system The water is hot, strong. The washing dish is large and deep The mirror is as big as a small round table, and there is a magnified face mirror. The wind is very hot. The restaurant is about20-30 people Breakfast with basic international breakfast food The cooking is flat, but the ham/packs taken from the packaging have a supermarket level At least you don't have to go to the restaurant that has to eat breakfast recently.
S.Bento Residences
4.7/556 Reviews
The location of the S.Bento Residences is terrific: across the street from the São Bento Station, the São Bento Metro stop, which has a lift and the Living Tours office, which is the meeting point for day tours to the Douro Valley. The studio we stayed in (line A facing the side of São Bento Station behind the façade of the old original building rather than facing Av. Dom Afonso Henriques) is beautifully decorated and light, as pictured on the website. However, it did seem smaller than the pictures suggest. There are two steps from the entry area to the living space, which was very clean except for the carpet, which is stained. The sofa, side chair and bed are quite low. There’s no closet, just a rail with hangars in the living area. A luggage rack or two would have been nice. The bathroom is very small with almost no room around the sink for toothpaste and toothbrushes. There is some storage under the sink. The shower has a handheld attachment with several settings. The shower partition only partially blocks water, so you have to be careful where it’s directed. The bath towels are lovely: large and thick. However, they are only replaced every three days. Washcloths are not provided so bring your own. Although there’s a washing machine, it cannot be used as a dryer, which would have been handy after we got soaked in a thunderstorm. The staff kindly gave us a drying rack. They patiently answered several questions during the booking process. One thing to watch for: although we had already paid for our entire stay, upon arrival we were asked to pay again. That error was fixed immediately. There’s only a tiny reception area and lift (no lobby). On the ground floor, there’s a trendy-looking burger restaurant that’s opened late, which we didn’t try. Ubers had no problem picking us up or dropping us off at S.Bento Residences.
InterContinental Hotels Porto - Palacio Das Cardosas

OK so we arrived very early and the whole of the front and one side of the hotel is surrounded by construction for the new metro. I really feel for the staff but they were handling it well. We did have to wait a long time to check in but that was because they wanted to give us a room away from the building work. The junior suite was great and the welcome was fab. Breakfast was stunning and the staff were adorable.
Ibis Porto São João
4.2/551 Reviews
I stayed here for a conference. The location was excellent - just a 5 minute walk to the campus (Faculty of Medicine), and it was quiet. It's easy to get the metro to the city centre. There's a shopping mall with a supermarket, a pharmacy and lots of food places 2 floors below. The staff were very friendly and helpful; the room was clean; the shower worked well and had a decent body wash.
Ibis Porto Centro Mercado Do Bolhao

Arriving slightly early we were very pleased to be able to check into our room. The lady who checked us in was absolutely lovely and it was a very smooth process. We were overall happy with our room. It was usual ibis style which was fine for our short 4 night stay. Some of the walls could be done with a refresh but generally very clean. Our room was quiet and had towels refreshed every day. I was very impressed with the hairdryer mounted in the bathroom. Usually these are not the best but this one was exceptional. Very happy. Breakfast was great and had just a perfect selection to start our day. Great location and very walkable around the city. Would definitely stay here again.
