Fuego del Sol Beachfront Hotel

We (daughter, friend and I) had a wonderful long weekend at Hotel Fuego del Sol. The location is fantastic, right on the beach, the rooms are large, very comfortable and clean, with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The AC works great (thank goodness, as it was very hot when we were there!). We spent time in the lovely hotel pool and ate our dinners at the hotel restaurant, which has a very nice menu and generous portions. The free breakfasts were pretty good. I understand the hotel was renovated within the last year or so and they did a great job with it -- past reviews of the hotel are irrelevant to how it is today!

The staff are awesome, you cant expect any better service anywhere , super friendly easy going and helpful , the rooms don't have anything at all and are old

We had a four night stay and enjoyed every minute of it! The grounds are clean and beautiful. As soon as you walk around and see the beach, restaurant and nice pool, you’ll realize you lucked out because some of the nearby hotels aren’t as nice. The restaurant served a really nice free breakfast and everything we had there was delicious - the chicken nachos, shrimp rice, mussels , and mahi mahi were favorites. Ramona makes a great Bloody Mary and Miguel was always wonderful. The beach has the dark sand and massive waves, with a no swimming rule to keep people safe. If you walk down the beach, you’ll see people surfing and some beach bars and restaurants that have great food and drinks. I loved walking along the shoreline and found some cool rocks and even a sand dollar! Another great perk- there’s a great restaurant at the top of the street you can walk to in less than 5 minutes. Most important to mention- this place is quiet and totally chill. It wouldn’t be for party people or people with young children. There were a variety of ages but definitely geared more towards couples/adults. I

The only good thing about this place is that room 201 has the upper balcony that overlooks the ocean. Now the Cons: our balcony sliding door didn't lock. So essentially anyone from the beach could walk up and climb up on our deck and open the sliding glass door. We didn't feel secure and I didn't trust my belongings there while I was away. I told the front desk guy about it and he came to my room with the maintenance guy and they couldn't fix it. He said we'll get you a stick. It took over an hour and a text to him asking if he was going to bring down a stick to secure the door. Finally the maintenance guy came and gave my husband a broom handle. The damn stick was too long to wedge in door jam! My husband texted the front desk guy and said the stick is too long and doesn't work. He read the message and chose to ignore us the rest of the night. So I ended up taking a wooden chair and wedging it in the door jam to secure it while we slept. We didn't feel safe so we left the next day. The hotel manager was there and asked us why. We told him our reasons and he never offered to refund us our money for the second night we paid for. I was just done with them. The room itself was fairly clean. Bare bones minimum. The shower drain was gross with a busted metal cover. The curtain on the broken sliding back door had black mold growing on it. The food is not good. The service at the restaurant was good. They were nice. Front desk guy was super rude.

Lovely poolside room - spacious and clean and bed comfortable. Grounds very nice and hotel is at the beach. Loved watching the scarlet macaws. Staff were friendly and reception staff very helpful. Only downside was the number of mosquitos in the room - I was bitten quite badly.

The room was tastefully decorated and had a nice patio overlooking the sea. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant offered a wide range of food including vegetarian. The service was good and the food was delicious. All of the facilities were excellent.

This is a beautiful hotel, right in front of the ocean. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The property looks recently updated and in a great location.

Ignore the negative reviews. They are from years ago before the hotel was torn down. This place is BRAND NEW!! I can't say enough positives about this hotel. Rooms are beautiful with great A/C, comfortable beds, and lovely decks. Location is right on the beach where the restaurant serves amazing food. The staff were the best - very helpful and accomodating. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!!
