The place is very unique in that the cottages are on pylons within the lake and connected by wooden boardwalks. The rooms are comfortable and attractive and the view of the lake from your bed is wonderful. On the other hand, the location is 10 km from anything, so you must have a car and drive on a poorly maintained road to get to anything. You would think this leads to a quiet environment, but it does not. We were awoken before dawn by long tail boats before dawn and they continued to buzz around our cottage all morning. It sounded exactly like having a lawn mower outside our window. Because of the environment and seasonal flooding, they must constantly do maintenance, so after the boats quit when the water roughened up, we were subjected to the sound of power tools and hammering. On top of that, night club volume music was coming from a building nearby. Our cottage had a number of maintenance issues. It took 10 minutes for the hot water to work. The door locks were jury rigged and difficult to open and close. They did not clean our room on a daily basis. The breakfast was ok, but not as good as typical Thai street food, and the only coffee supplied was instant rather than brewed. Overall, unless the novelty of staying on the water is important to you, I would recommend staying in or close to the town of Thale Noi. We saw some beautiful things in the area, but would have been happier there.
