Apollonion Asterias Resort and Spa

We just came back from 10 days family holiday in Apollonion Asterias. It was a wonderful time and we will go back again next year for sure. The location is great to visit Argostoli that is known as a capital city of the Kefalonia Island. It is beautiful town with charming old style buildings, loads of cafes and restaurants and what is the biggest attraction you can see the sea turtles there every day near the fishing boats. You can get there using the bus next to the hotel for only 2 euro to Lixuri and then you can catch the ferry to Argostoli for only 3,5euro. The beach near the hotel is beautiful and so different from the other ones as it has an orange sand and beautiful cliffs. To visit more places on the island you will need to hire a car which is easy too as the rental company is next to the hotel. The food was very tasty and vary every day. Everyone could find sth special. Desserts are the number one. There is a great entertainment team in a hotel too. Girls are so friendly and great with encouraging guests to join the games and other attractions. There is also one crazy and super friendly guy in their team. Kids loved him. Was great dancing and singing with them. We had a real feeling it was great fun for him to interact with them. Rooms are large and clean. Cleaning service is great and work hard every day. There is also lively reception team. All the girls were so friendly and helpful. They were always trying best to answer to all the guests requests. We were lucky to be offered an upgrade of our room few days before the end of our holiday. We have been moved from Deluxe tripple room that we have originally booked to 2 floors Mansionette with private pool free of charge. It was lovely surprise for us and we really appreciate that. It has been offered to is unexpectedly and was a real bliss. I can honestly say it was great holiday. The staff, facilities and everything in a hotel deserve a golden 5 stars. We can’t wait to go back next year. Thank you for our wonderful holiday on that beautiful island.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The landscaping is beautiful and the staff are fabulous and work incredibly hard - and always have a smile and a greeting. The room was fully cleaned daily. The area is somewhat isolated but there is a small beach (Xi), a shop and a couple of excellent taverna's/restaurants within walking distance. We were half board and found the food exceeded our expectations. Very fresh and varied. We hired a car which we found very useful (and cheap from the airport) for exploring the island. The hotel has the potential to be exceptional but there were several really annoying things that let it down. The blankets on the bed are the same as UK hospitals and quite scratchy so getting a good night sleep was difficult. There were coffee facilities in the room, but you were only trusted with paper cups, what hotel does that? At lunch in the main restaurant we were told we were not allowed to sit outside, when questioning it, we were told because the manager says so, ok then. Also at the restaurant they would serve you any drink except wine, if you wanted wine with your meal you had to get it yourself, why not just serve everybody at the table? We were on an all inclusive and even though all the ingredients were on the all inclusive menu, they wouldn’t make the cocktail unless we paid. All in all the 5 star wasn’t there and by the end of the holiday we had had enough.

I came here on holiday (UK May half term) with my sisters, nieces and nephews and my 7 year old daughter, she was the youngest of the group and went to mini club every day (except Friday). She loved it!!. It was so valuable to have a safe and fun space for my little girl, where she was happy playing with Yo Yo (Yorgos) and other children at the club. It gave me a break to sit and enjoy an iced coffee and catch up on messages and emails, read a book, pop and organise things at reception, just generally have some time for me outside the intensity of solo parenting. Yo Yo was fabulous with the kids. Fun, patient, interested, and always had activities for the kids to do. It was lovely that he was genuinely interested in the children, he took time to find out what they liked, in my daughters case, jigsaws, writing stories and poems, dancing. Thank you Yo Yo, what you do is so valuable to kids and parents.

We just had a fantastic week at this resort. The location is great, you can walk to Xi beach (or what's left of it after recent storms) in under 5 minutes and for a bit more beach you can turn left and stroll towards Megas Lakkos in 15 minutes, though you will need to get your feet wet. For any other exploring, you really need a car but if you don't pick one up at the airport there is a rental company next door. With transport, you're within 30-40 minutes of some great beaches, including Vouti which in my opinion is one of the best on the island, though the road down to it isn't for the faint-hearted. The food was brilliant, a great variety every day and for every meal. Custom omelettes are available every breakfast and pizza-oven cooked pizzas are made every dinner. The poolside snack bar is convenient for a lunch that you don't have to get too prepared for. There are two big pools and whilst the hotel started to fill up in the second half of our week, presumably owing to the start of the UK half term, we didn't have any trouble getting sunbeds for our large party. The cleaning staff keep the rooms immaculate and the grounds team do a fantastic job keeping the whole resort pristine. Whilst it feels like a big resort, everything feels like a brief stroll away regardless of where you are. The majority of the staff are fantastic with a special mention to Yusuf by the pool who assisted our seven year old with an injury she bought back from the beach. Nini the animation lead is a real asset to the resort and my youngest loved the chap who ran the kids disco. The reason I cannot give it a five-star review is the situation with the drinks and the all-inclusive package. I get it that Kefalonia isn't really an all-inclusivey type of resort, but we were travelling to celebrate a family member's 60th in a party that included my one-year old niece, so we thought going all-inclusive would just be easier on this occasion. However, there are two pretty poor aspects to this option. Firstly, it is a very restrictive all-inclusive. You don't get Pepsi or Coca-Cola when you want a coke, it's a vile, cheap alternative that tastes worse than the 40p for 2 litre garbage they sell in Aldi in the UK. You don't get Mythos or Alfa for lager, they serve up some unnamed lager that again is pretty poor and we all thought it was low-alcohol stuff as I could neck back a few and not even feel tipsy, whereas normally after 3 or 4 pints I'm well on my way. As for the wine, the self-serve stuff in the restaurant was truly vile. Other than maybe Jam Shed, it was the worst red wine I have ever tasted. The second big issue, which I believe is connected to the all-inclusive package, is the speed of service in the bars. We went to the bar most evenings hoping to enjoy a few drinks. Whilst they were generally prompt to take your first order after sitting down, it was an absolute nightmare to get anyone's attention for a second round. We had a fantastic stay and couldn’t recommend the hotel enough. The staff are excellent and go above and beyond to meet your needs. The facilities are always kept clean and tidy. The hotel is great for for everyone young families and adults only. The buffet has a wide variety of food every night that caters for all appetites. We visited the 2 al carte restaurants which are Italian and Greek both did not disappoint. We would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking to visit kefaloni.

AMAZING HOLIDAY! We stayed at the hotel for a week and were so sad to leave, the staff we all kind and helpful, rooms were very clean and had everything you would need. The grounds are stunning with lovely flowers and very well kept. The food was perfect always had so many options so everyone was kept happy. Perfect trip to getaway and to have relaxing and fun time all in one, will definitely be returning!x

It was a beautiful hotel with great facilities and they were all very kind and polite. The food was really delicious and the chef very good. Also the confectioner was amazing and the sweets were wonderful,delicious. I totally recommend you stay there

A wonderful hotel. Spotlessly clean. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was really good, with great choices. It is a large, well maintained site with plenty of room for all guests to have their own space. Overall a brilliant place to spend a holiday.
