We've stayed at the hotel numerous times and the food has always been exemplary and consistently good which is why we kept going back but it was hugely disappointing and hit and miss on our last visit. It went from being exceptional and tasty to awful and inedible and the uncertainty of not knowing what you would get was both unacceptable and unpleasant. Our only critic in the past was the small portions but we were given more when we asked. There were also constant shortages of food. We were constantly being informed they'd run out of items on the menu. The hit and miss food experience spoilt our stay. Other issues affecting our stay included; some dismissive, unfriendly, and unsupportive staff including reception staff, unheated cold communal areas, not being able to access the lounge due to various functions, and the previous uncomfortable old lounge seating being replaced with dining tables and chairs detracting from the main unique feature of the hotel and turning the glorious singer room into what looks like another function room rather than a lounge with comfy sofas for guests to rest and enjoy, returning is less attractive because the lounge is no longer a lounge, the previous knackered seating needed replacing but not with dining tables and chairs - utter utter madness. The rooms are also dated and in need of urgent modernisation and they need to be cleaner. Needless to say we won't be rushing back unless improvements with the food, guest seating and comfort in the lounge, cleanliness, the rooms, and customer care is sorted. These areas require urgent attention by the Owner(s) and Manager.
