Sol Marina Palace is in a superb location. The hotel overlooks a little beach and is a ten minute walk down the causeway to the beautiful world heritage town of Nesebar. We arrived in the early hours, and found the room clean and perfectly appointed, but decided the following day to upgrade to the other side of the hotel. This gave us a view of old Nesebar, the sea, and the party resort of Sunny Beach in the distance. We absolutely loved Nesebar and walked in most evenings (it was far too hot in the day), and enjoyed some wonderful meals out or a Bulgarian vodka or two whilst watching the hustle and bustle of Nesebar. There’s so much to see in the town…more than we thought. Very Instagramable! The hotel food was fine (I’ve had better and worse elsewhere). I’m vegetarian and I always found something to eat - plenty of vegetables, salads and fruit. The labelling would occasionally be wrong. It would help if this was better for vegetarians. The hotel provides a seven course dining experience for guests staying more than five nights. The food was delicious (but as a veggie I had to miss a course…please add a dish for veggie’s instead of prawn tempura…even some olives would do). All inclusive drinks were fine. There was a particularly nice pink gin, and I’m always pleased to see a reduced calorie cola - Pepsi Max. The beach below the hotel is used by locals. It’s a small sandy bay that’s nice for swimming. Although it’s a little tricky climbing over the rock boulders to reach it (for me anyway!) and steep steps back up. There are no sunbeds, but these can be found on the next beach along, a five minute walk away. We always found beds around the small pool. The upper area has no shade, which isn’t great if it’s very hot. Other guests enjoyed baking in full sun, but I preferred the shade around the pool. Great views of the area from the pool too. The hotel has many local shops and restaurants around it. We walked into the new town, plenty of shops, but not much to see. Other guests visited Sunny Beach which was easily reached by boat or bus. It didn’t appeal to us, but we did visit Burgas city for the day which was enjoyable. We are chatty and friendly people, but found the welcome from staff mixed. The guest relations manager was wonderful, whilst other staff wouldn’t smile at us. Regardless, I’d recommend this hotel. The location cannot be beaten.
