Royal Orchid Metropole Mysore

Was satisfied with the facilities, hygiene, location, etc.

We LOVED this grand hotel, situated about 15 minutes’ walk from Mysuru Palace. There are signs of its former life as a residence for the Maharajah’s guests everywhere and it was just the most comfortable place in which to base ourselves. We loved being able to walk into the city centre and also to other nearby restaurant and eateries (check our Dosa Point nearby). The décor is stunning, both in the communal areas and the rooms. Our room had a lovely large balcony overlooking the central atrium which was a great spot to sit in a morning and watch the place wake up. We could probably have done without the saxophonist playing there before 8am on morning, however…! Staff were so friendly, always looking out for us and helping with all of our queries, and the restaurant, Tiger Trail, was stunning. We ate there twice in our four-night stay which is rare for us as we like to eat in new places but that’s a testament to how good it was. The room itself was clean and comfortable but the icing on the cake was the stunning swimming pool in the grounds. We enjoyed a couple of relaxing afternoons or early morning swims there – and despite the hotel being on a main road, the grounds are so full of plants and trees that you would never know how close you were to city life. Could have stayed here much longer – it was the ideal choice in Mysuru for us.

This quality of this hotel is not at all commensurate with the quality of the ***y hotels of a similar price in which we have stayed in India and it is difficult to see how it justifies the price. It offers a mixture traditional rooms and modern rooms. The traditional rooms are of a poor standard and require updating, particularly the bathrooms. The newer ‘deluxe’ rooms are of basic quality, quite small. Ours had a damp odour and there was evidence of plumbing and structural problems next to the outside of our door (see photos). The service in the restaurant is appalling. With the exception of one waitress (Bindiya) our requests and those of the other guests had to be followed up several times. Despite this when the bill is presented for signature the waiters stood expectantly waiting for a tip. The outside area lacks charm (see photo) however it is preferable to the dark canteen like dining room where tables are laid from breakfast. ***y guests take food outside, occupying tables that were not laid up, finding their own cutlery to carry ***** with their food. In contrast, the female receptionist was extremely helpful and charming. The only redeeming factor of this hotel.

Food is awesome. With pleasant weather and ambience it increase the enjoyment. Kudos to the team who ***ages this. Tour guide has told us about the palace on details and we can related how kings and others are having their life style. Neat and clean palace.

I love the metropole for its old world charm. It is an oasis in the heart of Mysore. Staff are all wonderful, the rooms beautiful with private balconies overlooking lush gardens. The food is also very tasty here. I look forward to staying whenever I visit Mysore.

Been visiting This place for the last 4 years atleast and everything is so good and consistent. Hotel staff Mr. Shivanna, profoundly welcomes me every single time and preps for my fav food without me asking for it. Very hospitable and welcoming.

The staff was always very kind and gave their best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. I would definitely come back again to the royal Orchid hotel! Furthermore, the food was very nice and also the Breakfast hat lots of different options, so everyone could find something.

We as a couple go almost once a year to Mysore and we stay at The Royal Orchid Metropole everytime. So finally I decided to write a review. The hotel previously belonged to the Maharaja of Mysore who built it as a guest accommodation for his guests from abroad and other important V.I.P.s So therefore is has a very old world ambiance, and it has been well maintained by the present owners. Each room is tasteful and decorated elegantly. The beds are pure luxury the pillows are huge and so fluffy. Their best room (The Maharaja room) is super large and the epitome of splendour We stayed in the next level which was also lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpfull. The front desk reception staff are very charming and obliging. The food was delicious and caters to all kinds of de***ds. So definitely worth staying and we will continue to do so. We stayed from 30 March 2024 to 2 April 2024

Stayed with family👪, my son favorite place on the weekend, near the 🏊we have lawn area to play for children's, nice poolside area with lush of greenery, good and tastey food in the open sky in the courtyard restaurant, breakfast was nice and liked by my son, will come whenever in Mysore.
