Le Petit Pali at 8th Ave

Carmel-by-the-Sea|1.72km from Peasant Folk Collection
Le Petit Pali at 8th was amazing! We celebrated my 30th here from Fort Worth, TX and had such an amazing trip. We brought our 7 month old son and had baby rental gear delivered via BabyQuip. Karen and Shaq set up the gear and moved us to a bigger room before we got there which was so sweet, we definitely felt welcomed as a family. Shaq was so helpful with recommendations and Karen was always checking in to see if we needed anything. The champagne breakfast is a fun touch and Natalie our waitress was on top of it. I always felt like staff was on top of cleanliness and our room was always so clean. Valencia the housekeeper did a great job and I loved that they were always cleaning around our time out of the room and trying to make in convenient for us. The decor of the entire place is precious and such a fun vibe and the T3 straightener, blow dryer, and clothes steamer are nice additions as well! This would be a great place for a girls trip, couple, or families. I previously read concerns on parking and the walls being thin but I will say the little amount of foot traffic I heard from the room upstairs didn’t bother us or the baby at all, and the parking during December wasn’t much of an issue either. If having a parking lot is priority then you could select the ocean ave property that Le Petit Pali has. Chris at the front desk was super helpful at checkout explaining the differences in properties so I know for next time but we would definitely come back here because of the great touches and the customer service! The room did have a mini fridge but I also needed a freezer for ice packs for my breas**ilk and the front desk was happy to keep the ice packs in their freezer up front, just a note for moms traveling with milk. Thanks for an amazing 30th birthday trip! A note on the AC….most hotels in Carmel don’t have them which worried me a bit being from Texas but in December we kept a window open during the day and heater on at night and the temp was perfect.

The room is small and complete, this is the first hotel in the town, not open on weekends, so good luck. Twin room, the bed is a bit small, but the baby sleeps in a small bed with a sofa, just fine. Breakfast is delivered by the hotel, but the tip is not rich, but the miscellaneous fruits are pineapple, cantaloupe, cucumber and so on. Next to the hotel is lush, smelling a scent, can not help but buy. Carmel Beach should be visible across the bed.

The room set the night before the check-in, the price has nothing to look forward to, about 8:30 in the evening to the hotel, the front desk has been off work, the glass door is attached with two envelopes, respectively, the name of me and another guest, guide me self-help Stay with wisdom. I also served the old beauty. So I didn't report any hope, but the room was really good, two rooms and one living room, on the second floor, it was quieter and more private, the area was bigger, the kitchen supplies were complete, I made a Chinese meal there. The place for breakfast is also the hotel lobby, really small, 10 people can not accommodate. Many guests are brought to the room to eat, and there are few choices. Check out that my credit card is not the same as the reservation, but it does not matter, or continue to pay. But not long after, I received news that I did not stay and deducted the room rate. I have to vomit the old American way of working, but Ctrip is still actively handling it. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

We booked this place hoping it would be one of the many, very smart independent motels you find throughout CA. Check in was painless and easy. We got a great patio as we had paid for a sea view but it did mean we were around the side of the hotel. The patio doors were surprisingly insecure - held by a small bolt. The room itself was surprisingly small (two double beds), particularly with the fireplace in one corner. The lack of a desk was a shame and we had hoped the room would be smarter/have more character. The bathroom was also relatively small. The beds were very comfortable. Remarkably when we got ready for bed we discovered that the room has no AC - not even a fan! We called reception and they said all the free-standing fans had been given out for the night. We managed to get one our second night but couldn't believe the lack of AC in California - the hotel is older but not so old as to not offer this. The pool was well located and of a good size. However, having been advertised as heated to 80 degrees I would say it was a lot colder. The pool hours (9am-7pm) were annoyingly restrictive, but not uncommon for outdoor pools and explained by the fact that some hotel rooms were right outside it! Breakfast was very poor - a grab and go bag with water, a piece of fruit and an unappetising, dry pastry - which forced us to go elsewhere. Overall given the range of choice and competition in Carmel, and the reasonably high room rate, we were left disappointed. The hotel lacked the character we had hoped for and needs to up its game where AC and breakfast are concerned. We would look to stay somewhere else if we returned to Carmel.

The service is very good and it is worth staying for one more night. The hotel has a parking lot and the breakfast is very good. There may be elk on the way to the hotel. In short, it is a hotel worth remembering.

If you are want to visit the downtown Carmel area and plan to park your car and walk everywhere, you are in luck with this hotel. We booked a king room for a two night stay and did plenty of research so we knew both the negatives and the positives. We had a very nice quiet room with covered parking, so helpful. It seemed to be unseasonably warm in the afternoon hours, especially in the sun with the high humidity, so the lack of A/C in the room was felt, but opening the windows and using the old fan did help. Maybe they could consider a ceiling fan in the future. We left the door open several times to get extra ventilation in the room, but we found that the bugs wanted to enter the room as well. As previously mentioned, there is no elevator, just stairs. If you have mobility issues, be aware of this. The lady that checked us in was very kind, welcoming and friendly. Appreciated her helpfulness. Just a quick reminder that everything in the downtown Carmel area is ”smallish,” meaning that shops, restaurants and sometimes local inns and hotels, are not big on space. If you feel the need to spread out, this is not the place for you, but it is in a great location and reasonably priced for an expensive area.

The hotel in itself was very nice. I was however very surprised and disappointed in how the staff handled our stay. This trip was meant to be a gift from a family member who had arranged this type of gift already three times with the hotel in the past month. At time of checkout the staff had us pay for our gift and I only hope we didn't double pay and they took advantage of an elderly person. It was a horribly embarrassing and uncomfortable situation as this hotel was out of our budget. The three staff members I talked to did nothing to try and correct this and I was not about to call my family member to confirm they would pay. That's just an awkward way to get a gift.
