As we got to the hotel the staff was nice but pressed the issue of tipping. They give you 2 key cards for your room & 2 extra cards that we didn’t know what they were for. We lost 1 of the extras and they charged us $20 for losing it. Our room was not clean. Fake eye lashes and hair weave on the floor. Smelled like mold. The food in the buffet was u under cooked, drinks watered down, the pools seemed segregated with blacks in 1 and whites in the other. They told us taxi’s are free just tip the drivers until you need to go to the airport and then they want to charge you $25 for a 7min ride. We pre- booked transportation to and from the hotel but leaving they never showed up so we were forced to pay a taxi driver. The staff is so eager to grab your plates while you eat. Booked Bamboo rafting for an excursion and it’s not as hyped as it looks. The men pray on woman. Not suppose to message above the knee’s and we’re going way higher, got sun burn because our raft didn’t have an umbrella. Had to wait a hour to leave after finishing because some had longer rides and happy endings. Over a terrible experience and I don’t recommend to anyone. The people are rude and money hungry

The property and grounds were very clean. The entertainment staff were excellent and engaging. I loved that there was ample seating for the shows which were great! The waterslide park was a hit too! The only negative i have is that our toilet clogged multiple times. The last time we called reception about it we came back to freshly made beds and our toilet was still clogged, but it was remedied rather quickly after that.

I really enjoyed my stay. I just wish that I knew ahead of time that we had to book our transportation back to the airport 24 hours before and that we had to book our dinner reservations, way earlier. We ate at the buffet pretty much every night, but we had a blast. Most of the staff was nice. The towel boys gave me attitude telling me that we need to tip them and they were very rude talking about me every time I pass by outside of that I loved my stay I could’ve used another week or two there.

The property is fine. The entertainment staff I’d give a 5 out of 5, so good!! The female staff members are nice, the male staff for bartending in particular not friendly at all. We also called down to the front desk multiple times and never once got what we asked for. All in all, we had a blast thanks to the vibe at the bar pool and the entertainment staff, food was decent but I wouldn’t chose to stay here again.

Stay elsewhere , not with the extreme price. Hotel or run down and in need of renovations . Staff is rude and lazy . Food is mediocer. This does not compete to Riu standards …

I like the proximity to the airport, safety, dining, different pools.
They need to do a better job clearing the swimming area on the beach of sea weeds.

outdoor pool and beach areas were condensed, but you did not feel crowded at all. Staff was excellent. The food was basically the same everyday. An outdoor pizza oven, grill to order place, or build your own sub sandwich shop would help. All those foods were offered, but presentation and freshness were lacking. It felt like college dorm food.

Big up to the staff who are doing a great job of keeping the guests entertained and well-fed. The entertainment crews work tirelessly, Riu I hope that you are paying these people well because they are the heartbeat of the hotel. The servers, chef, bartenders, housekeepers, and groundsmen we see the tireless work that you are doing, thank you.
Management of RIU Montego, please do some maintenance on the property because even though the staff above are doing a great job, I can see that the property is neglected (paint peeling from the wall, cracked tiles in the hallways, baseboard fallen off, scruff marks on the door from the patio). Yes, I am only 1 customer but I hear other customers as well. Expansion is great but the other properties need care.
I would recommend this property because of the staff, food, and location.
